Veterinary Receptionist

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Receptionist to join our team. In this role, you will be the first point of contact for pet owners and their beloved animals, providing exceptional customer service while managing the front desk operations of our veterinary practice. Your passion for animals and strong communication skills will help create a welcoming environment for both clients and their pets.

Responsibilities

• Greet clients and their pets upon arrival, ensuring a friendly and professional atmosphere.
• Schedule appointments and manage the clinic's calendar efficiently.
• Answer phone calls, respond to inquiries, and provide information about services offered.
• Maintain accurate patient records and ensure all information is up-to-date in the system.
• Process payments and handle billing inquiries with attention to detail.
• Assist veterinary staff with animal restraint during examinations as needed.
• Provide clients with educational materials regarding animal care and health.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the reception area and waiting room.

Skills

• Strong knowledge of veterinary terminology to communicate effectively with clients and staff.
• Experience in animal handling, including dog handling techniques and animal restraint.
• Familiarity with equine care is a plus for those working in mixed-animal practices.
• Understanding of animal husbandry practices to provide accurate information to pet owners.
• Knowledge of aseptic techniques to support the clinic's hygiene standards.
• Basic understanding of animal anatomy to assist in client education efforts.
• Previous experience in a veterinary or animal care setting is preferred but not required.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with a focus on customer service.
