Ridgefield Veterinary Center is an independently owned small animal veterinary practice located in the beautiful town of Ridgefield, Connecticut. We have been caring for pets in our community for more than 50 years and are committed to providing exceptional veterinary care with compassion, professionalism, and a personal touch.

We are looking to expand our team with a knowledgeable, friendly, and compassionate Veterinary Receptionist who shares our commitment to outstanding patient care and client service.

Responsibilities

• Greet clients and their pets warmly and professionally, creating a welcoming and positive first impression.
• Check in clients, verify information, and assist with patient flow throughout the hospital.
• Schedule appointments, manage the appointment calendar, and coordinate scheduling needs with the veterinary team.
• Answer incoming phone calls, respond to emails, and address client questions and concerns with professionalism and empathy.
• Provide clients with information regarding hospital services, pricing, appointment policies, and general pet care.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records, patient information, and medical histories.
• Process payments, prepare invoices, and handle financial transactions accurately.
• Communicate effectively with veterinarians, technicians, assistants, and other team members to support efficient daily operations.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming reception area.
• Handle sensitive or challenging client interactions with tact, patience, and diplomacy.
• Follow hospital policies and procedures while maintaining client confidentiality.
• Perform additional duties as needed to support the daily operations of the hospital.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Previous veterinary receptionist experience is required.
• Familiarity with veterinary terminology, medical procedures, and common veterinary medications is a plus.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong customer service skills and the ability to interact professionally with clients and colleagues.
• Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, and remain calm in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency with computers and scheduling software; experience with AVImark is preferred.
• Fear Free Certified or willing to obtain Fear Free Certification.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while also working independently when needed.
• A compassionate, patient-centered approach to caring for pets and supporting their families.

Pay: From $21.00 per hour
