Veterinary Surgeon

We have a rare vacancy for a new vet at Bury St Edmunds Veterinary Centre.

We have been looking forward into the rota, and as we have 2 vets on maternity leave, we have decided to give ourselves a Christmas gift - yes , it's only 3 months till Christmas - of (hopefully!) a new experienced vet!

We don't technically "need" another vet. This is a want not a need situation, and the right fit for our truly amazing team is 100% the most important thing. This is not a new grad role either (sorry - we LOVE the new grads, we LOVE teaching, but we need to make sure our ratio of experienced: newer qualified is right so that everyone is supported and can flourish).

A little bit about us.... if you have a look at our socials and "meet the team" page on the website you will find a lot, but basically, we are a fabulously independent practice, and will stay that way, in the heart of Suffolk. We are owned by Jenny and Carly, both still full-time working vets on the "shop floor". We genuinely still love our job and have a passion for what we do. We have a team of 13 vets over the 2 sites of Bury and Needham (and we are actually posting a Needham advert out too as we have grown so much there recently, so if you are closer that way geographically, or don't share our love of ECC / emergency work check that out). We fix pets and we enjoy each other's company. We aren't perfect, we are human and won't pretend to ever be anything else. Some days are better than others. But we support each other and help each other, and all want nothing other than the very best outcomes for our patients and to have a good time whilst doing it.

And what a support network that is. We have certificate holders in Surgery, Dentistry, Imaging, Pain, we have people working towards Opth and Medicine. And then the nurses are out of this world first class. Seriously, I challenge anyone to better them. The reception are also brilliant and they book sensibly, triage well and are a really nice team to work alongside.

So, what is on the "wishlist"..... Ideally, someone who loved their job but maybe wants a new challenge. Want more time to mentor the next generation? Want to work towards a cert? Already got a cert but want to use it more? Don't want a cert but want to instead be an awesome allrounder? We can help with all of those!

As this is an "extra" vacancy, we have the luxury of flexibility. Some people work best part time and that is totally cool with us. Others are full-time and also, we can make space for that. The only non-negotiable for this role is a great attitude, at least a few years' experience, willingness to go on the on-call rota (don't worry - it isn't heavy, 1 in 6 or so split weekends either days or on call nights and then approx. 1 night every 2 weeks, only for our clients, who are the most amazing and appreciative bunch you could ask for). In exchange we pay you money and give you time off!
