What they need
Veterinary Surgeon – Independent Practice | Bexhill-on-Sea, East Sussex
£45,000–£65,000 FTE | Full-Time or Part-Time Considered | No On-Call | Excellent Career Development Opportunities
Join an Independent Practice That's Growing, Investing and Looking to the Future
Our journey began during lockdown as a mobile veterinary service, providing much-needed care to pets and their owners. Thanks to the incredible support of our local community, we've grown into a thriving, modern veterinary practice in Bexhill-on-Sea.
We're continuing to grow, but we're doing so for the right reasons: to provide better care for our patients, create a great working environment for our team and give our vets the tools and opportunities to develop professionally.
Following a significant expansion of our premises, we're now looking for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join our friendly and supportive team.
And there's more to come! We have a CT scanner arriving later this year (2026), representing another exciting step in our commitment to providing advanced veterinary care locally.
Why Join GoPet Services Vets?
We believe veterinary medicine should be rewarding, enjoyable and focused on doing what's right for patients.
As an independently owned and vet-run practice, we offer something increasingly difficult to find:
- Clinical freedom – no corporate targets, sales pressures or KPI-driven consultations.
- A supportive, close-knit team – where everyone's contribution is valued.
- Time to practise good medicine – with an emphasis on quality of care rather than rushing through appointments.
- Real opportunities for progression – whether you want to develop a particular clinical interest, work towards a certificate or take on additional responsibilities.
- Investment in your development – we actively encourage and support further training, practical courses, CPD and professional qualifications.
- Modern facilities and equipment – with ongoing investment to support our team's clinical ambitions.
We're not looking for someone to simply fill a position. We're looking for someone who wants to become part of our practice, grow with us and help shape its future.
Our Facilities
We believe that providing excellent veterinary care starts with having the right equipment, facilities and support.
Our recently expanded practice offers:
- Full IDEXX in-house laboratory
- Digital radiography
- Ultrasound
- Modern dental suite with dental radiography
- Fully equipped surgical theatre
- Multiparameter anaesthetic monitoring
- Class IV therapeutic laser
- Dedicated patient care and hospitalisation facilities
- Additional consulting rooms and clinical space
- CT scanner arriving in 2026
We continue to invest in new technology, equipment and facilities, giving our team opportunities to expand their clinical skills and provide an increasingly comprehensive service to our patients.
The Role
We're looking for a Veterinary Surgeon with at least 3 years' UK small animal practice experience.
You'll be confident with routine consultations, general surgery and medical investigations, and comfortable managing cases independently.
Occasional sole charge may be required, although this is not a regular feature of the position.
We're particularly interested in someone who:
- Enjoys building lasting relationships with clients and their pets.
- Takes pride in providing high-quality, compassionate veterinary care.
- Values clinical independence and continuity of care.
- Works well within a friendly and collaborative team.
- Is confident in their clinical abilities but equally happy to ask for or offer support.
- Has an interest in continuing to learn, develop and progress professionally.
We welcome vets with individual clinical interests and ambitions. Whether your passion is surgery, diagnostic imaging, internal medicine, dentistry or another area, we'd be happy to explore how we can support your development.
There is always room for progression within our practice for those who want it, and we're keen to support courses, further qualifications and training that benefit both the individual and the wider team.
Working Hours & Work-Life Balance
We understand the importance of having a life outside work, and we're happy to consider both full-time and part-time applicants.
Our working pattern includes:
- Full-time: 4-day working week
- Part-time hours considered – we're open to discussing a working pattern that suits the right candidate and the needs of the practice.
- Normal working hours: 8:30am–6:30pm
- 1 in 4 Saturday mornings (9am–12pm), with the option for additional Saturdays if desired
- No on-call
- Out-of-hours covered by a trusted local emergency provider
- Closed on Bank Holidays
- Flexible working arrangements considered
We believe finding the right person is more important than insisting on a rigid working pattern. Whether you're looking for a full-time position or a better balance through part-time hours, we'd be pleased to discuss what could work.
We want our team to enjoy coming to work, feel supported in their roles and have the time to enjoy life outside the practice.
Salary & Benefits
Salary: £45,000–£65,000 FTE, depending on experience and skills (pro rata for part-time positions).
Our benefits include:
- Full-time or part-time opportunities
- Company pension
- Generous CPD allowance
- Support for certificates, professional courses and further training
- Opportunities for clinical and career progression
- RCVS and VDS membership fees paid
- Staff discount
- Flexible working considered
- Supportive management and genuine clinical autonomy
- Modern facilities with continued investment in equipment and technology
We believe professional development should be an ongoing part of your career, not just something discussed during an annual review.
If there's an area you'd like to develop, we're always open to discussing how we can help you achieve your goals.
A Practice Where You Can Build Your Future
Joining GoPet Services Vets means becoming part of an independent practice with genuine ambitions for the future.
We've recently expanded our premises, we're introducing CT imaging later this year, and we're continuing to develop the services we can offer our local community.
As we grow, so do the opportunities for our team.
We value initiative, encourage new ideas and believe that good people should have the opportunity to develop their skills and progress within the practice.
Above all, we want to maintain the friendly, personal atmosphere that has helped us grow from a mobile veterinary service into the practice we are today.
If you're an experienced vet looking for clinical freedom, a supportive team, opportunities to develop and a practice that genuinely invests in its people, we'd love to hear from you.
Whether you're seeking full-time or part-time work, come and grow with GoPet Services Vets.
