Veterinary Surgery Technician

Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and confident Surgery Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate is highly skilled in anesthesia, surgical preparation, and post-operative care, and comfortable working with both traditional companion animals (dogs and cats) as well as exotic species. We are also willing to work with candidates who may not have exotic experience but have the desire to learn.

Windrose Animal Hospital is a progressive veterinary practice dedicated to providing exceptional medical and surgical care to companion animals—including dogs, cats, and a wide variety of exotics. We work right with Windrose Urgent Care, and will have Stable Urgent Care surgeries added onto our regular surgery schedules as needed! So not every day will be the same old, spay/neuter/dental/mass removal type vibes. We pride ourselves on a supportive, team-focused environment where every staff member plays an essential role in delivering top-quality care. Our Doctors trust our Veterinarian nurses to use their skills! We are cloud base as well, so you won’t be taking handheld notes throughout surgery!

We have cautery, a ventilator, ligature, hand held dental xray machine and endoscopy! This ensures every patient receives the full care they need.

Enjoy a great schedule— Monday–Friday 9 AM to 5 PM.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist veterinarians in surgical procedures for dogs, cats, and exotic pets
• Perform anesthesia induction, monitoring, and recovery
• Prepare surgical suites and maintain sterile environments
• Provide pre- and post-operative patient care
• Educate clients on surgical procedures, aftercare, and recovery needs
• Maintain accurate medical and surgical records
• Support the veterinary team with general technical and nursing duties as needed

Qualifications:

• 2+ years of veterinary technician experience (surgery and anesthesia required)
• Comfortable handling and caring for exotic species (or eager to learn)
• Strong knowledge of surgical protocols and patient monitoring
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and organizational skills
• Credentialed Veterinary Technician (CVT, LVT, or RVT) preferred but not required
