Duties

• Assist veterinarians during medical examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures, ensuring all protocols are followed with precision.
• Perform medical collections such as blood draws, urine samples, and other laboratory tests to support accurate diagnoses.
• Handle animals safely using proper restraint techniques, including dog handling, animal husbandry, and animal restraint methods.
• Maintain aseptic techniques during surgical procedures and laboratory work to prevent contamination.
• Manage veterinary software systems for record keeping, appointment scheduling, and client communication efficiently.
• Support kennel operations by caring for hospitalized animals, monitoring their condition, and providing routine pet care.
• Conduct laboratory tests and analyze results to assist in diagnosis and treatment planning under veterinary supervision.
• Communicate effectively with clients regarding pet care instructions, treatment plans, and post-procedure follow-up.
• Ensure compliance with Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) regulations and USDA guidelines related to medication handling and animal treatment.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Veterinary Technician or in a veterinary clinic setting.
• Strong knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, and veterinary critical care practices.
• Skilled in medical collection techniques such as catheterization and laboratory sample handling.
• Familiarity with veterinary software platforms like AVImark or Cornerstone is preferred.
• Excellent dog handling skills along with overall animal handling expertise across various species.
• Ability to perform animal restraint safely while maintaining calmness under pressure.
• Knowledge of aseptic techniques used during surgeries and laboratory procedures.
• Experience with pet care routines including grooming, feeding, and administering medications.
• Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and compassionately with clients.
• Understanding of Veterinary administrative support tasks such as record keeping, inventory management, and compliance with DEA and USDA regulations.

Pay: $18.00 - $26.00 per hour
