Veterinary Technician

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in animal care and handling, along with the ability to assist veterinarians in providing high-quality medical care to a variety of animals. Ability to be a positive team player is critical. This role is essential in ensuring the health and well-being of our patients while also providing support to pet owners.

Duties

• Assist veterinarians during examinations, treatments, dentals and surgical procedures, ensuring a sterile environment through aseptic techniques.
• Perform injections and catheterization for various procedures, ensuring the safety and comfort of the animals.
• Conduct laboratory tests, including blood work and urinalysis, while maintaining accurate records.
• Utilize veterinary terminology effectively when communicating with team members and pet owners.
• Provide compassionate care for animals in the hospital, including feeding and monitoring their health status.
• Maintain knowledge of animal physiology and anatomy to assist in diagnosing health issues.
• Handle animals with confidence, employing safe, effective techniques as needed.
• Educate pet owners on proper pet care practices, including dental hygiene, nutrition and training.
• Support veterinary critical care efforts by monitoring vital signs and administering medications as directed.
• Communicate with team members to ensure a collaborative, positive, clean and organized work environment.

Experience
Candidates should have prior experience in a veterinary setting or related field, with a preference for those who possess:

• Veterinary technician experience or certification.
• Undeniable commitment to maintaining a professional schedule.
• Excellent communication skills to positively interact with pet owners and team members.
• Knowledge of dental terminology related to animal care.
• Experience in handling various species safely and effectively.
• Proficiency in performing X-rays and other diagnostic imaging techniques.

Pay: $21.00 - $23.00 per hour
