What they need

Ready to Take Your Veterinary Technician Career to the Next Level?

Are you an experienced Veterinary Technician looking for more than routine appointments and preventive care?

Do you enjoy challenging cases, advanced procedures, and opportunities to continue developing your clinical skills?

Animal Cancer & Referral Center (ACRC) is looking for a motivated, experienced Veterinary Technician to join our growing Medical Oncology team in The Woodlands, Texas.

You don't need oncology experience to join our team! We're looking for a technician with a strong clinical foundation, a passion for patient care, and the desire to grow in specialty medicine.

Why You'll Love Working at ACRC

  • $22–$29/hour, based on experience and technical skills
  • Four-day workweek with 10-hour shifts
  • Privately owned and operated specialty hospital
  • Work directly alongside board-certified veterinary specialists
  • Hands-on experience with advanced medicine and procedures
  • Opportunities for professional growth and continuing education
  • Collaborative environment where technicians are valued members of the medical team

What You'll Get to Do

At ACRC, our technicians are hands-on, client-facing medical professionals who play an essential role in patient care. From advanced diagnostics and anesthesia to building lasting relationships with our clients, no two days are exactly alike.

You'll have the opportunity to utilize and expand your skills in:

  • Phlebotomy & IV Catheter Placement: Perform frequent blood draws, place and maintain IV catheters, collect diagnostic samples, and support ongoing patient treatments.
  • Anesthesia & Sedation: Perform medication calculations, assist with anesthetic induction, monitor patients under anesthesia, and provide attentive recovery care.
  • Advanced Diagnostics & Procedures: Assist with CT imaging, biopsies, fine needle aspirates, and other specialty diagnostic procedures.
  • Specialty Oncology Treatments: Participate in chemotherapy administration, electrochemotherapy (ECT), cryotherapy, and other advanced cancer treatments.
  • Medication Calculations & Administration: Accurately calculate, prepare, and administer medications while following established safety protocols.
  • Patient Monitoring & Nursing Care: Provide compassionate care for hospitalized patients, monitor treatment responses, assist with blood transfusions, and participate in RECOVER CPR.
  • Client Communication & Relationships: Build meaningful, lasting relationships with clients through frequent visits, patient updates, education, and compassionate support throughout their pets' cancer journeys.

What makes this role special? Our patients aren't always one-time visitors. Many return weekly or regularly throughout their treatment, giving our technicians the opportunity to truly get to know the pets and families they care for.

We're looking for someone who loves the technical side of veterinary medicine just as much as the human side—someone who takes pride in excellent patient care, enjoys connecting with clients, and is excited to continue growing in specialty medicine.

Who We're Looking For

Required:

  • 3+ years of veterinary technician experience
  • Strong venipuncture and IV catheter placement skills
  • Experience with anesthesia and patient monitoring
  • Confidence with medication calculations and patient care
  • Excellent communication, organization, and teamwork
  • A willingness to learn and take on new challenges

Preferred, but Not Required:

  • Experience in emergency, ICU, surgery, oncology, or specialty medicine
  • LVT, CVT, or VTS credentials
  • Previous chemotherapy or advanced diagnostic experience

Coming from general practice? If you have a strong technical foundation and are ready to challenge yourself, we encourage you to apply!

Benefits & Perks

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Paid time off
  • Life insurance
