Veterinary Technician – Emergency | Overnight Pacific CARE Pet Emergency & Specialty – Irvine, CA

Compensation: $26–$30/hour, based on experience

Employment Type: Part-time

Schedule: Monday–Tuesday, overnight shifts

About The Role Make a difference for emergency patients through the night. Pacific CARE Pet Emergency & Specialty is seeking an experienced Veterinary Technician to join our overnight Emergency team.

You’ll support emergency and hospitalized patients, work closely with veterinarians, and provide attentive nursing care. Excellent venipuncture skills, sound observation, and clear communication are essential for this role.

Responsibilities In your day-to-day, you will:

• Assist veterinarians with emergency patient assessment, stabilization, diagnostics, and treatment.
• Perform accurate, efficient venipuncture, IV catheter placement, and sample collection.
• Provide ongoing nursing care for hospitalized patients throughout the night.
• Monitor vital signs, comfort, and response to treatment, promptly communicating changes to the veterinarian.
• Administer prescribed medications, fluids, and treatments within your training and authorized scope.
• Assist with laboratory testing and diagnostic procedures.
• Maintain accurate medical records and treatment documentation.
• Provide thorough handoffs to the incoming day team.
• Maintain clean, organized treatment areas and follow infection prevention protocols.
• Communicate compassionately with clients in coordination with the medical team.

Qualifications

• Previous veterinary technician experience with strong hands-on nursing skills.
• Excellent venipuncture skills and proficiency with IV catheter placement.
• Emergency, critical care, or specialty veterinary experience preferred.
• Ability to recognize changes in patient condition and respond promptly under veterinary direction.
• Attention to detail with medication calculations, treatment instructions, and documentation.
• Ability to remain composed and organized while managing competing patient needs.
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to teamwork.
• Availability to work Monday–Tuesday overnight shifts.
