A Day Back (adayback.ai) helps service businesses get their time back through AI agents and automation. We’re hiring a Founding Engineer / Junior AI Developer to connect software, build useful agents, and turn everyday business headaches into tasks that practically handle themselves.

We’re looking for an obsessed vibe coder. Someone who is constantly experimenting, learning new tools, and turning ideas into working solutions. You might be early in your career, but you’re already building things and have the coding foundation to understand, debug, and improve what AI produces.

As our first technical hire, you’ll work directly with founder Matthew Poll. You’ll help build our company, work with clients, and see your projects make a difference in real businesses.

Location: South Jordan / Salt Lake City, Utah. Local, on-site work and in-person client visits required.
Job type: Full-time. Available to start ASAP.
Salary: $60,000–$100,000 per year, based on skills and experience.
Equity: Potential opportunity after demonstrating strong performance and contribution.

Duties

• Build, configure, and improve AI agents that take repetitive work off people’s plates.
• Connect client software, CRMs, and business tools through APIs and automation.
• Attend in-person client setups, typically around two hours for the initial appointment.
• Talk with business owners and their teams to figure out where time gets wasted and what we can automate.
• Get deep into our CRM and internal tools, then make them work better.
• Troubleshoot problems, test your solutions, and make sure they keep working after the demo.
• Explain what you’ve built in plain English and help clients feel comfortable using it.
• Shadow client training sessions and webinars, then grow into leading them.
• Help shape and build our long-term product.
• Document your work and handle client data, credentials, and access responsibly.

Skills

• Hands-on experience building with AI coding tools and experimenting with AI agents. Experience with Grok Bot, Claw, OpenClaw, or similar tools is a plus.
• A coding foundation that helps you read, troubleshoot, and improve AI-generated code.
• Familiarity with APIs, integrations, and workflow automation, plus the curiosity to learn unfamiliar systems.
• Strong problem-solving skills. When something breaks, you investigate, ask good questions, and work toward a fix.
• Clear communication and confidence talking with clients on the phone, on video, and in person.
• Creativity, initiative, and follow-through. You can take an idea, build it, test it, and finish it.
• Comfort with startup life: priorities evolve, you’ll wear several hats, and your ideas will matter.
• Availability for full-time, on-site work in the South Jordan / Salt Lake City area.
