Established in 2016, Brainware University is a UGC-recognised State Private University located at Barasat, near Kolkata, West Bengal .

With over 20,000 students, 700+ faculty members and a total workforce of more than 1,200 employees , the University offers a wide range of career-oriented undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes across multiple disciplines.

At Brainware University, we believe that quality higher education should be accessible and affordable , particularly for students from middle-income families and Tier 2 and Tier 3 towns.

The Leadership We Seek

We are looking for a practical, committed, hardworking and academically accomplished Vice Chancellor who can strengthen this mission and lead the University towards higher standards of academic and institutional performance.

The position calls for active involvement, sound academic judgement, effective administration and the ability to inspire people through personal example.

The key priorities will include:

1. Teaching Quality & Academic Excellence

Strengthening classroom teaching, faculty effectiveness, curriculum relevance, practical learning and academic outcomes through continuous monitoring, mentoring and improvement.

2. Placement Readiness & Career Development

Improving student employability through structured pre-placement training, industry-relevant competencies, professional skills, internships and stronger industry–academia engagement.

3. Innovation & Entrepreneurship

Building a culture of innovation, problem-solving and entrepreneurship by encouraging student and faculty initiatives, meaningful industry collaborations, incubation and practical applications of knowledge.

4. Accreditation, Rankings & Institutional Recognition

Leading institutional preparedness and performance in NAAC, NIRF and other relevant national and international accreditation and ranking frameworks , supported by a strong culture of quality assurance, accountability and continuous improvement.

5. Research & Outreach

Promoting meaningful research, externally funded projects, interdisciplinary collaborations, community engagement and outreach activities that create academic, institutional and societal value.

6. Talent Acquisition & Team Leadership

Attracting and onboarding accomplished faculty members, senior academic leaders and other capable professionals, while developing and leading a large academic and administrative team through mentoring, coordination, accountability and personal example.

Eligibility

Applicants must fulfil all qualifications, experience and other eligibility requirements prescribed under the applicable UGC Regulations and relevant statutory provisions for appointment as Vice Chancellor.

Experience in senior academic administration, institutional development, academic quality enhancement and leading multidisciplinary teams will be particularly valued.
