Vice President, Software Engineering & AI Transformation

For our client, we are seeking a Vice President, Software Engineering & AI Transformation to join the team of a leader in the Aerospace & Defense space.

This leader will oversee a large-scale software engineering organization and help shape the technology direction behind critical solutions in a highly regulated, mission-driven environment. The role will focus on improving engineering execution, strengthening software quality, and accelerating the adoption of AI across customer-facing products and internal capabilities. You will partner closely with business leaders and technical teams to translate strategy into investment priorities, operating standards, and measurable outcomes.

The ideal candidate will bring deep experience leading complex engineering organizations and modernizing enterprise technology practices. This position also requires the ability to evaluate emerging technologies, establish effective governance, and drive innovation that supports competitive advantage and long-term scalability.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $175,000 – $250,000 annually

• Lead and scale a high-performing software engineering organization
• Improve delivery predictability and software quality
• Translate business strategy into technology priorities
• Establish metrics to measure engineering effectiveness and AI adoption
• Evaluate emerging technologies for competitive advantage
• Drive AI-powered experiences into customer-facing products
• Govern technology standards and investment priorities

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field
• 15+ years of progressive technology experience
• 8+ years leading large software engineering organizations
• 3-5+ years in EHR and healthcare software environments
• Expertise in modern software engineering practices and enterprise architecture
• Experience implementing AI and machine learning capabilities
• Strong understanding of Generative AI and machine learning frameworks
