WE’RE HIRING: VIDEO EDITOR

We are looking for an experienced and creative Video Editor to work with a content creator with an audience of over 120,000 followers on Instagram.

The role can be fully remote, although candidates based in Ibadan are preferred.

REQUIREMENTS

Basic editing skills are not enough for this role.

The ideal candidate should have:

• Minimum 3 years of professional video editing experience
• Strong experience editing Instagram Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts and Facebook content
• Experience editing long-form YouTube videos, vlogs, podcasts and interviews
• Strong understanding of storytelling, hooks, pacing and audience retention
• Good sense of subtitles, captions, music, sound effects, B-roll and transitions
• Strong colour correction and audio-cleaning skills
• Ability to select the strongest moments from raw footage
• Ability to work independently without needing step-by-step instructions
• Good understanding of current social media trends and editing styles
• Strong organisation and ability to meet deadlines

INITIAL WORKLOAD

At the beginning:

• 3 short-form videos per week
• 1 long-form video per week — vlog, podcast, interview or similar content

This initial period will be used to see how the cooperation works, with the possibility of increasing the workload later.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The editor will be responsible for:

• Turning raw footage into polished and engaging content
• Selecting the best footage, audio and supporting media
• Adding subtitles, captions, music, sound effects, graphics and B-roll
• Improving colour, lighting and audio quality
• Adapting content for different platforms and formats
• Making revisions based on feedback
• Organising project files and media assets
• Ensuring videos are ready for publication
• Occasionally assisting with filming if based locally
