Job Summary :

The Video Editor will transform raw footage into strong narrative-driven content across documentaries, YouTube long-form videos, podcasts, interviews, news/editorial content, human-interest stories and branded editorial formats.

Key Responsibilities :

• Edit documentary-style and observational content.

• Build narratives from interviews, B-roll, field footage, archival assets and voiceovers.

• Edit long-form YouTube stories and interviews.

• Create strong openings and maintain viewer retention.

• Edit full-length podcasts and create short-form podcast clips.

• Work with researchers, producers and content teams on news/editorial content.

• Translate scripts, research and statistics into visual narratives.

• Create motion graphics, VFX, animated typography, maps and data visualizations.

• Select appropriate music and build emotional progression through sound.

• Clean and balance dialogue and audio.

• Suggest stronger storytelling approaches, hooks and endings.

• Identify missing footage and recommend B-roll or archival assets.

• Manage multiple projects and meet delivery timelines.

  Required Skills

• 6-8 years of professional experience with at least 5 years in relevant digital media/content environments .

• Strong hands-on experience in narrative and storytelling-based video editing .

• Experience editing documentaries, long-form YouTube content or digital editorial content .

• Strong knowledge of Adobe After Effects .

• Experience with Motion Graphics and VFX .

• Strong understanding of pacing, hooks, narrative structure and audience retention .

• Experience editing podcasts, interviews and short-form social content .

• Strong knowledge of music selection and sound design .

• Ability to work with B-roll, archival footage, graphics, text and voiceovers .

• Strong creative and visual judgement.

• Ability to independently manage projects and make creative decisions.

• Strong attention to detail, communication and deadline-management skills.

  Good to Have:

• Experience in startups or fast-moving organizations.

• Newsroom/editorial experience.

• AI editing tools.

• Film, Media, Mass Communication, Animation, Visual Communication or Design education.
