What they need

Videographer & Editor – TCG

Salary + Benefits + Bonus + Stock Option Plan

Most card grading happens out of sight. A card goes in the post, a number comes back, and nobody sees what happened in between. We want people to see all of it.

Our grading happens under forensic imaging instruments, the same kind border forces use to catch forged passports, and covers cards from eleven games: Pokémon, One Piece, Disney Lorcana, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Digimon, Union Arena, Magic: The Gathering, Gundam Card Game, Dragon Ball Super Card Game, Dragon Ball Super Fusion World and Riftbound. We measure. We don't eyeball.

We are establishing a new laboratory with serious equipment and a grading scale that runs to 1,000 points, because ten was never enough. We are looking for a videographer and editor to bring it to the screen: someone who shoots it, cuts it and finishes it, and the sort of person who can make a corner measurement as watchable as a pack opening.

What we actually do

A card arrives. It is photographed under visible, ultraviolet and infrared light, measured to a hundredth of a millimetre, and assessed across twelve axes: six scored, and six inspected and verified, all approved by AEL lab technicians. Along the way we establish whether it has been trimmed, rebuilt or faked. Mycroft.AI, our grading intelligence, turns the measurements into a score. A human confirms it. The card is then sealed in a tamper-evident case with an NFC chip and returned to its owner with a certificate and a permanent registry record.

Every step of that is worth watching. You would be the one holding the camera, and the one deciding what makes the cut.

What you'll do

  • Film the laboratory at work: cards under ultraviolet and infrared light, measurements coming up on screen, the instruments and the people running them.

  • Shoot the moments collectors wait for: the grade reveal, the case being sealed, and the NFC tap that brings up a card's registry record.

  • Edit what you shoot for @AELgrading on YouTube, TikTok and Instagram: quick-turnaround short-form for Shorts, Reels and TikTok, and finished long-form for YouTube, working to briefs from our Head of Content.

  • Finish every piece properly: colour grade, sound mix, captions, titles and simple motion graphics, exported in the right format for each platform.

  • Turn the science into something anyone can follow: how centering is measured, what a trimmed card looks like, why a fake fails.

  • Cover card shows, shop events and creator collaborations, travelling when the story is somewhere else.

  • Shoot stills when the job calls for it: cases, cards, the laboratory and the team, for the website and our channels.

  • Run the kit and the edit library: cameras, lenses, lighting and audio in working order; every project and file named, versioned and backed up; music and footage properly licensed. A clip you can't find is a clip you didn't shoot.

  • Work within the laboratory's security and publishing rules. Some things are never filmed, and nothing is published without sign-off from our marketing team.

Who you are

  • A videographer and editor with a portfolio to prove it: you can shoot, light and record clean sound, then cut it into something people watch to the end.

  • Strong TCG knowledge and keen to own the process: you know why a card matters before you point a camera at it.

  • Good at macro and product work. If you can film a holo card without a stripe of glare across it, we want to see it.

  • Fluent in Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve or Final Cut Pro, confident grading colour and mixing sound, and comfortable building titles and motion graphics. After Effects is a plus.

  • You edit for the viewer: a strong hook, good pacing, and nothing in the cut that hasn't earned its place.

  • You know what works on YouTube, TikTok and Instagram in the card world: vertical and horizontal, thirty seconds and thirty minutes.

  • Comfortable directing people on camera, from a grader at the bench to a visiting creator.

  • Detail-obsessed. Not in the CV sense, but in the sense that a fingerprint on a case or a reflection in the shot bothers you.

  • Full training is provided on the laboratory, its systems and our filming and security procedures.

  • Team player, with multiple opportunities for growth; able to hold conversations, dive into other roles to help colleagues out and have fun doing so.

A grading background is not essential as long as you're into detail and a TCG enthusiast.

Ideal for outgoing, creative individuals who are into being part of something fun and industry leading.

What it's like

A new laboratory opening its doors this autumn, and a brand being built in public. You will help decide how AEL looks on screen, and the look you set is the one every video after you follows.

This role is designed for motivated individuals eager to apply their TCG and creative skills in a specialised field that combines craftsmanship with technology. Join us to be part of a passionate team dedicated to excellence in trading card grading!

We also have an environment of some really cool things coming down the pipeline and would love a community enthusiast to come on this journey with us.

Please include a link to your showreel or portfolio with your application, and tell us which pieces you shot and which you edited. We would rather see your work than read about it.

Due to the nature of the Role - DBS background checks will be required.
