Virtualization Engineer

Key Responsibilities

1. Virtualization Architecture & Design

• Design and maintain enterprise virtualization architecture standards with a primary focus on Nutanix platforms.
• Define blueprints for compute, storage, and software-defined networking components.
• Ensure solutions support scalability, performance, security, and operational efficiency.
• Participate in architecture reviews and maintain alignment with enterprise standards.

2. Nutanix Platform Leadership

• Lead the design, deployment, and operations of Nutanix AHV, AOS, and Prism environments.
• Provide hands-on expertise in cluster design, lifecycle management, and platform upgrades.
• Ensure optimal configuration, performance, and utilization of infrastructure resources.

3. Hybrid & Multi-Cloud Integration

• Design and support hybrid and multi-cloud virtualization environments.
• Integrate on-premises virtualization platforms with public cloud services where required.
• Enable cloud-adjacent and cloud-integrated workloads.

4. High Availability & Disaster Recovery

• Design and operate highly available virtualization platforms, including active-active datacenter environments.
• Implement disaster recovery solutions using synchronous and asynchronous replication methods.
• Plan, execute, and document DR testing and business continuity exercises.

5. Software Defined Networking & Security

• Design and operate software-defined networking solutions across virtualized environments.
• Ensure secure segmentation, traffic management, and network resiliency.
• Apply Zero Trust and defense-in-depth security principles.

6. Centralized Infrastructure Management

• Implement centralized monitoring, automation, and infrastructure management platforms.
• Ensure unified visibility across compute, storage, networking, and DR environments.
• Establish operational dashboards, alerts, and performance KPIs.

7. Operations, Monitoring & Optimization

• Ensure platform stability, availability, and performance.
• Perform capacity planning, performance tuning, and lifecycle management.
• Lead root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.

8. Project Delivery & Technical Leadership

• Lead end-to-end virtualization initiatives including builds, upgrades, migrations, and consolidations.
• Provide technical guidance to engineering teams during implementation and operations.
• Drive automation, SOP development, and infrastructure documentation.

9. Stakeholder & Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Collaborate with network, storage, security, database, and application teams.
• Communicate technical solutions and operational considerations effectively.
• Coordinate with vendors and delivery partners during implementation and support.

Desired Candidate Profile

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline.

Experience

• 8–10 years of experience in enterprise virtualization and infrastructure environments.
• Strong hands-on experience with Nutanix platforms in production environments.
• Proven experience in designing and operating active-active datacenter architectures.
• Experience across hyperconverged, hybrid, and multi-cloud virtualization environments.
• Strong exposure to disaster recovery, business continuity, and high availability practices.
• Hands-on expertise in software-defined networking and centralized infrastructure management.

Certifications (Preferred)

• Nutanix Certifications (NCP, NCM, or equivalent) – highly desirable.
• SDN / Network Virtualization certifications – preferred.
• Cloud foundation certifications – desirable.

Technical Skills

• Expert knowledge of Nutanix AHV, AOS, Prism Central, and lifecycle management.
• Strong understanding of virtualization networking, micro-segmentation, and security controls.
• Experience with active-active datacenters, metro clusters, and DR orchestration.
• Expertise in centralized monitoring, automation, and capacity management.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex, multi-layer infrastructure issues.
