Vision Application Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Vision Application Engineer to join our team and play a key role in developing and implementing machine vision solutions for automated equipment. You will be involved in feasibility studies, vision system design and development, software integration, programming, testing, commissioning, and continuous improvement to deliver accurate, reliable, and efficient inspection solutions that meet client and project requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Engage with clients to understand vision inspection requirements and conduct feasibility studies to determine suitable vision technologies, hardware, and software solutions.
• Design and implement machine vision solutions using cameras, lighting, lenses, vision sensors, and other related technologies.
• Develop and customize vision algorithms for applications such as defect detection, measurement, pattern matching, OCR, and barcode reading.
• Integrate vision systems with automation equipment, including PLCs, robots, and custom motion platforms.
• Develop, debug, and optimize image processing algorithms using C/C++, Python, OpenCV, or similar programming languages and tools.
• Utilize vision platforms and SDKs such as HALCON, Cognex, Keyence, NI Vision, or equivalent.
• Perform system testing, tuning, camera alignment, lighting setup, commissioning, and performance validation under production conditions.
• Ensure vision systems meet required accuracy, speed, reliability, and project performance targets.
• Prepare technical documentation, including vision flowcharts, inspection logic, system parameters, and user manuals.
• Support system training and handover to internal teams and clients.

About you

• Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering, Automation, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 2–5 years of experience in machine vision, automation, system integration, or a related field.
• Hands-on experience with machine vision cameras, lighting, lenses, sensors, and image processing.
• Experience in C/C++, Python, OpenCV, or similar programming languages.
• Experience with HALCON, Cognex, Keyence, NI Vision, or other machine vision platforms will be an advantage.
• Knowledge of PLC, robotics, motion control, and automation systems is an added advantage.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Willingness to travel to customer sites for installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
• Good communication skills and ability to work effectively with customers and cross-functional teams.
