What they need
The Role
We design and build high-speed industrial automation systems for precision manufacturing. We are looking for a Vision System Engineer who can bridge the gap between optics, hardware, and code—someone who understands how lighting angles, lens distortion, and pixel resolution affect inspection accuracy, and can implement robust vision solutions in C-family or .NET languages.
You will own the full vision software lifecycle: from camera and lighting specification, to algorithm development, to final calibration and deployment on production floors.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain machine vision software for automated inspection, measurement, and alignment systems.
- Define and implement vision inspection strategies—including camera selection, illumination design, lens selection, field-of-view calculations, and part positioning.
- Develop and optimize image processing algorithms (e.g., blob analysis, edge detection, pattern matching, OCR, or 3D measurement) to meet customer defect detection and cycle time requirements.
- Integrate and configure vision libraries (Halcon, Cognex, Keyence, or equivalent) into the overall software framework.
- Perform GR&R (Gauge Repeatability & Reproducibility) and correlation studies to validate vision system accuracy, precision, and stability under real production conditions.
- Troubleshoot vision failures at customer sites—diagnosing whether issues are software, lighting, mechanical vibration, or part variation.
- Collaborate with mechanical and electrical engineers during machine integration to ensure seamless communication between vision software, PLCs, and motion controllers.
What We're Looking For
Must-Have:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related field.
Strong proficiency in at least one C-family or .NET language (C#, C++, C, or VB.NET)—we care about solid coding fundamentals, not a specific syntax.
Working knowledge of at least one commercial vision library—preferably Halcon, Cognex VisionPro, or Keyence CV-X. (Experience with OpenCV or Matrox is also acceptable.)
Solid understanding in at least 2 of the 3 following areas:
- You understand that lighting is 80% of a vision solution—and you can walk onto a machine and immediately spot a bad illumination setup.
- You can look at a lens spec sheet and tell us if it fits the working distance and field of view we need.
- You're equally comfortable reading a camera datasheet, writing algorithm code, and standing on a factory floor to debug a false reject.
You think in terms of pixels, milliseconds, and microns.
You can explain technical trade-offs (speed vs. accuracy, resolution vs. field of view) to non-technical stakeholders.
You are proactive, curious, and enjoy solving problems that don't have a textbook answer.
Why Join Us
- Work on real, tangible systems that ship to global manufacturers.
- Own the entire vision stack—from hardware specification to algorithm to field support.
- Fast-growing company with opportunities to lead projects and mentor juniors as we expand.
- Competitive salary, performance bonuses, and occasional travel to customer sites (mostly within SEA) for installation and commissioning.
Other offers great for you!
