Role & responsibilities

• Operate Vertical Machining Centre (VMC) machines to manufacture components as per engineering drawings.
• Set up workpieces, fixtures, and cutting tools for machining operations.
• Load, edit, and run CNC programs, and make tool and work offset adjustments as required.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, tolerances, and job instructions.
• Inspect machined parts using measuring instruments to ensure dimensional accuracy.
• Monitor machining operations, tool wear, and surface finish, and take corrective action when needed.
• Report machine issues and coordinate with Production, Quality, and Maintenance teams.
• Maintain the machine, tooling, and work area, and follow safety procedures and production schedules.

Preferred candidate profile

• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline, or ITI in a relevant trade, with a machine operation course (preferably CNC / VMC machining).
• Hands-on experience in operating VMC machines in a manufacturing or machine shop environment.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and understand GD&T.
• Basic understanding of CNC programming, work offsets, and tool offsets.
• Knowledge of cutting tools, tool selection, and machining parameters such as speeds and feeds.
• Skill in using measuring instruments such as vernier calipers, micrometers, and height gauges.
• Attention to detail, safety awareness, and a quality-focused approach.
• Experience in Defence, Aerospace, or Precision Manufacturing environments is preferred.
• Experience in machining aluminium, stainless steel, or other engineering materials is an added advantage.
