VMware Engineer

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior VMware Engineer to join their dynamic IT team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in VMware, Linux, and Windows engineering. This role is critical for designing, implementing, and managing their virtualized infrastructure, ensuring high availability, performance, and security of their systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and Implementation:
• Design, implement, and manage VMware infrastructure, including ESXi hosts, vCenter, and related components on Cisco UCS B and C-series hardware.
• Develop and maintain infrastructure for virtualized environments, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
• Linux and Windows Engineering:
• Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Linux and Windows servers within a virtualized environment.
• Implement best practices for security, performance, and scalability across both Linux and Windows platforms.
• System Administration:
• Perform regular system updates, patch management, and backup operations.
• Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize resource usage.
• Automation and Scripting:
• Develop and maintain automation scripts using PowerShell, Python, or other scripting languages to streamline operations and improve efficiency.
• Implement automation tools and frameworks to manage infrastructure and application deployments.
• Collaboration and Support:
• Work closely with other IT teams, developers, and stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of virtualized infrastructure with other systems and applications.
• Provide technical support and mentorship to junior engineers and support staff.
• Documentation and Reporting:
• Create and maintain detailed documentation of infrastructure designs, configurations, and procedures.
• Generate reports on system performance, capacity planning, and incident management.

Qualifications:

• Education and Experience:
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in VMware engineering, including experience with ESXi, vCenter, and related technologies.
• Strong background in Linux and Windows server administration.
• Technical Skills:
• Proficiency in VMware vSphere, vSAN, and NSX.
• Experience with automation and scripting languages (PowerShell, Python, Bash, etc.).
• Strong understanding of network protocols, storage solutions, and security best practices.

Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, etc.) is a plus.
