What they need

Banksia Palliative Care Service is a community-based specialist palliative care organisation providing services to people with life-limiting or terminal illnesses across the Banyule, Nillumbik, and Whittlesea communities .

At Banksia, our vision is that every person has access to and receives exceptional, personalised palliative care support at the right time and in the right place.

Banksia is seeking an organised, compassionate and motivated Volunteer Coordinator to join our team on a part-time basis (0.8 EFT) to lead, support and grow our valued volunteer program.

About the Role

As Volunteer Coordinator, you will be responsible for coordinating, supporting and expanding Banksia's volunteer program while strengthening community awareness of volunteering and promoting engagement across our catchment. You will work closely with management, staff, volunteers and our community to ensure our volunteer services grow and thrive.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating and leading Banksia's existing volunteer programs, (including companionship visits, biography service, administration support and community-based volunteer services), and working with management to innovatively expand the program.

  • Recruiting, training, supporting and retaining Banksia volunteers.

  • Fully utilising volunteer availability - matching volunteers with appropriate opportunities and coordinating volunteer activities.

  • Promoting volunteer services and opportunities across Banksia, thereby increasing their participation across the business.

  • Supporting community engagement initiatives, events and activities.

  • Maintaining volunteer records, reporting and compliance requirements.

About You

You will be a naturally energetic, enthusiastic, compassionate and organised professional with experience in volunteer coordination, community services or a related field. You will bring strong communication, administration and IT skills, an innovative, collaborative approach, and a genuine commitment to supporting volunteers while enhancing the wellbeing of palliative clients, carers and families. Experience in health care, community services or palliative care will be highly regarded.

Why Join Banksia?

At Banksia, our values of Excellence, Respect, Integrity and Collaboration guide everything we do. We are committed to providing exceptional care while fostering a supportive and inclusive workplace where our people can grow and thrive.

We offer:

  • Meaningful work that positively impacts clients and families.
  • A collaborative and supportive team culture.
  • Opportunities for professional development and ongoing learning.
  • Full NFP Salary packaging entitlements ($15,900 annually), plus options for meals and entertainment benefits and novated car leasing.

Requirements:

The successful applicant will:

  • Undertake and successfully complete a National Police Check and Working with Children Check.
  • Hold a current and unrestricted Driver's Licence.
  • Have the legal right to work in Australia on an ongoing basis, with no restrictions on hours worked.
