What they need
VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR
Are you…..
Are you passionate about making a difference in your community?
Are you a natural relationship builder who thrives in a collaborative environment?
Are you enthusiastic, people focused, and enjoy a diverse range of tasks?
Don’t miss this exciting opportunity to join our team in Tauranga and support the heart of our organisation – our volunteers.
At Waipuna Hospice, we’re all about delivering compassionate end-of-life care across the Western Bay of Plenty. Our goal is to deliver a responsive, compassionate, and person-centred care to individuals living with life-limiting illnesses, which is often in their homes. We also have a welcoming inpatient unit in Te Puna for those who need extra support.
We’re a charity powered by passion, courage, teamwork, and community spirit. Our funding is made possible by our fundraising heroes, and our busy charity shops with partial support from the government.
We believe that great care starts with great people, and that’s where YOU come in!
We’re on the hunt for an energetic Volunteer Co-Ordinator to coordinate, support, and engage volunteers across retail, clinical, and community roles, leading the recruitment functions for volunteers, while building strong relationships with our Hospice teams.
ABOUT THE JOB
This is a varied, people-focused role where no two days are the same, and your work directly supports the sustainability and mission of Waipuna Hospice. You will help create a positive, inclusive and rewarding volunteer experience and contribute to quality improvement and volunteer engagement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Building strong, visible relationships with Retail Managers, shop teams and volunteers across all retail locations, including regular site visits and agreed monthly check-ins.
- Understand retail volunteer vacancies, capacity, capability and emerging workforce risks.
- Coordinating targeted retail recruitment functions including, onboarding handover, training and engagement while ensuring Retail Managers retain responsibility for site induction, rosters, day-to-day supervision and performance feedback.
- Providing timely advice and practical support to Retail Managers on volunteer engagement, changing needs, role transitions and retention, escalating matters through the agreed pathway where required.
- Contributing volunteer insights and updates at relevant retail meetings and support initiatives that strengthen the retail volunteer pipeline and community profile.
This is a part-time role, 30 hours per week, worked across 5 days, Monday to Friday with flexibility around start and finish times.
ABOUT YOU
We’re looking for a confident individual with a positive attitude and strong relationship-building and communication skills to join our volunteer team in a role that supports both our patients and dedicated volunteers.
Experience in supporting, coordinating, or leading volunteers or people in a community or service environment is advantageous but not a deal breaker. You will be confident working across multiple sites and engaging with diverse groups of people. You will bring strong organisational and administrative skills, demonstrate sound judgement, and manage sensitive situations with care, discretion, and professionalism.
If you’re a people person with a warm heart, a steady presence, tech savvy and have a desire to make a meaningful impact, we’d love to hear from you.
