What they need
Job Overview
At Summit Healing, Inc. our mission is to create a community that supports and empowers individuals struggling with substance use disorder and co-occurring diagnoses. Summit Healing provides supportive housing, connection to treatment, community integration, and independent living skills.
Summit Healing, Inc. (a 501(c)(3) Nonprofit Organization) opened two sober living facilities in 2019. 20 individuals resided at Summit Healing, and ten individuals were on the waitlist. Without Summit Healing, most of these individuals would be homeless, unable to comply with community supervision, and left without access to behavioral health services, including medication management. Due to participants' involvement in the justice system coupled with mental health symptomology, Summit Healing participants face barriers when seeking gainful employment, such as a lack of education, vocational skills, and job training. Today, Summit Healing operates 4 sober living recovery residences in Littleton, CO, Englewood, CO, and Lakewood, CO with about 50 beds available for clients in need of safe and sober environments to start over in.
Summit Healing, Inc. is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Volunteer Grant Professional to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will play a vital part in securing funding to support our organization’s mission and programs. Your expertise in grant research, proposal development, and contract management will help us build strong relationships with funders and ensure the successful submission of grant applications. This volunteer position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to impactful community initiatives while honing your skills in nonprofit fundraising, strategic planning, and project management. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment and are passionate about advancing nonprofit causes through effective grant writing and management, we want to hear from you!
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive research on grant funding opportunities from government agencies, foundations, and other sources aligned with our organizational goals.
- Develop compelling grant proposals, including narratives, budgets, and supporting documents, tailored to specific funder guidelines.
- Manage the entire grant lifecycle—from initial research and case development to submission, reporting, and compliance tracking—using databases such as Raiser's Edge or similar systems.
- Maintain accurate records of grant applications, deadlines, and outcomes within our database management systems.
- Collaborate with program staff to gather necessary information for proposals and ensure alignment with organizational objectives.
- Proofread and edit proposals for clarity, accuracy, and persuasive impact; ensure all documents meet technical writing standards.
- Monitor grant progress post-award by preparing financial reports, program updates, and compliance documentation as required by funders.
- Support strategic planning efforts related to fundraising initiatives and nonprofit program development.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in grant proposal writing, including developing compelling narratives and budgets for nonprofit organizations or community programs.
- Strong knowledge of contracts, contract management, and grant funding regulations within nonprofit settings.
- Familiarity with databases such as Raiser's Edge or other donor management systems; experience managing grant-related data is highly preferred.
- Excellent research skills to identify new funding opportunities relevant to nonprofit community organizations.
- Demonstrated ability to write persuasively with clarity while maintaining technical accuracy in reports and proposals.
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines efficiently.
- Experience in nonprofit foundation work or government agency fundraising is a plus.
- Strong editing and proofreading skills to ensure high-quality submission materials.
- Ability to work collaboratively across teams while maintaining attention to detail in project management tasks.
