  • Coordinate interviews and volunteer-vetting submissions under Government procedures; final access and suitability determinations remain with the Government.
  • Develop and deliver approved orientation and training on museum history, mission, visitor services, emergency safety, and assigned roles.
  • Match volunteer skills and interests to operational needs, manage shift schedules, and maintain accurate volunteer-hour and contribution records.
  • Maintain volunteer communications, recognition activities, and feedback loops that improve retention and operational readiness.
  • Coordinate with the Education Program Manager on volunteer support for STEM and history programs.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in human resources, social sciences, communications, museum studies, or a related field.
  • Two to four years of volunteer management, community outreach, or program-coordination experience, preferably in a nonprofit or cultural setting.
  • Proficiency with volunteer-management databases, scheduling, training/orientation delivery, and community engagement.
  • Working understanding of volunteer-versus-employee labor considerations and appropriate performance-management boundaries for volunteer programs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified in Volunteer Administration (CVA).
  • Museum, cultural-institution, military-history, public-attraction, or community-service program experience.
  • Public speaking, conflict resolution, multigenerational communication, recognition-program, and volunteer-retention experience.
