Job Summary
As a Volunteer Mechanical Engineer specializing in Humanoid Robot Design, you will play a vital role in developing and refining mechanical systems for humanoid robots. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to create detailed schematics, develop prototypes, and optimize manufacturing processes. This position offers a unique opportunity to apply your mechanical engineering expertise in a dynamic, forward-thinking environment dedicated to robotics innovation.

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineering volunteer with experience in robotics design, specifically humanoid robot mechanics, to support early-stage R&D and prototyping. This role is ideal for someone passionate about advanced robotics and eager to contribute to the foundational development of our product.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the mechanical design of humanoid robot structures, joints, and movement systems
• Develop CAD models and mechanical layouts for robotic components
• Support prototyping, testing, and refinement of mechanical assemblies
• Collaborate with electrical and software teams to ensure seamless integration
• Conduct research on materials, actuators, and motion systems
• Participate in weekly meetings at our North York workspace

Required Skills

• Strong background in mechanical engineering and robotics
• Experience with humanoid robot design, kinematics, and joint systems
• Proficiency in CAD tools (SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or similar)
• Understanding of actuators, servos, and mechanical linkages
• Ability to solve complex engineering problems
• Mechanical knowledge relevant to robotics components such as actuators, joints, and structural frameworks
• Ability to work independently in a remote setting while collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams
• Prior experience or interest in humanoid robot development is a plus

Time Commitment

• 8-16 hours per week
• Hybrid (remote + in-person meetings in North York) or Remote
