VP - Biotech

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Head of Biology / Biological Sciences to lead the overall business development and operational growth of the Company’s Biology Department. Reporting as a key member of the management team, this individual will be responsible for developing and executing the department’s business strategy and development plans in alignment with the Company’s overall business objectives.

The role will play a key leadership role in business operations, strategic decision-making, market development, academic collaboration, key account management, and talent development. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in biological sciences, strong leadership capabilities, and extensive experience within the biotechnology, biopharmaceutical, pharmaceutical, or CRO industry.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute the overall business strategy, development objectives, and operational plans for the Biology Department in alignment with the Company’s strategic and commercial goals.
• Lead the implementation of departmental business plans and ensure the effective delivery of key strategic initiatives.
• Participate in the Company’s overall business management, strategic planning, and major operational and business decisions.
• Drive market development and business expansion by identifying new opportunities and supporting the growth of the Company’s biological research and service capabilities.
• Support academic exchange, scientific collaboration, and industry engagement to strengthen the Company’s scientific reputation and market presence.
• Build and maintain relationships with key customers and support the management and delivery of major client projects.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment between scientific capabilities, business development, customer needs, and operational execution.
• Lead, develop, and optimize the Biology Department team, including talent development, capability building, succession planning, and organizational improvement.
• Establish a strong leadership pipeline and foster a high-performing, collaborative, and results-oriented team culture.
• Provide scientific, strategic, and management leadership to support the long-term growth and competitiveness of the Biology business.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. degree in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology , or another closely related discipline.
• A minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in biological sciences, biotechnology, biopharmaceuticals, pharmaceuticals, CROs, or related industries.
• Candidates with international academic experience, particularly in Europe or North America , are preferred.
• Management or leadership experience within a multinational biotechnology, biopharmaceutical, pharmaceutical, or CRO organization is highly preferred.
• Strong ability to analyze complex issues, identify solutions, and make sound business and management decisions.
• Demonstrated leadership, people management, communication, and organizational capabilities.
• Experience in business development, market expansion, key account management, or strategic planning is preferred.
• Strong professional ethics, ownership mindset, and ability to work effectively in a collaborative and cross-functional environment.
• Excellent communication skills in both English and Chinese , including strong verbal and written communication abilities.
