What they need
Shape the Cloud Strategy Behind Mission-Critical Enterprise Software
Compensation: $250,000–$280,000 base + annual bonus + equity
Thrively has partnered with a global enterprise software company whose technology powers some of the most critical workflows in financial services and highly regulated industries. Trusted by leading public companies, financial institutions, and enterprise organizations worldwide, its SaaS platforms operate in environments where security, availability, and performance are non-negotiable.
As the company continues its evolution as a cloud-first software organization, we're searching for a Vice President of Cloud Infrastructure to help shape the next chapter of its technology strategy.
This is more than an opportunity to lead cloud operations. It's a chance to own the infrastructure strategy behind a global SaaS portfolio, lead an established organization of approximately 20 engineers , and directly influence how engineering teams build and deliver software.
We're looking for a leader who thinks like an engineer, operates like a business executive, and understands that exceptional infrastructure isn't just about keeping systems running. It's about enabling products, accelerating innovation, and creating measurable business value.
The Opportunity
As VP of Cloud Infrastructure, you'll lead the strategy, architecture, and operational execution of the cloud infrastructure supporting a portfolio of mission-critical enterprise SaaS products.
You'll lead an established organization of approximately 20 engineers across Cloud Infrastructure and Database Engineering , including experienced technical leaders. Your opportunity is to strengthen its operating model, elevate engineering practices, and shape a forward-looking cloud strategy.
Working closely with senior Engineering leadership, Product Development, Security, and Cloud Operations, you'll translate business priorities into a clear technology roadmap and ensure the organization has the platforms, processes, and technical capabilities to deliver against it.
The environment is predominantly Microsoft Azure, with additional AWS infrastructure, and includes complex distributed systems, Kubernetes, database infrastructure, and modern cloud-native architectures.
Your mandate: Build an infrastructure organization that doesn't simply support the business—it helps move the business forward.
What You'll Own
Cloud Strategy & Architecture
- Define and execute a multi-year cloud infrastructure strategy aligned with product priorities, business objectives, and growth plans.
- Establish architectural direction across Azure and AWS, balancing scalability, resilience, security, performance, and cost.
- Partner with Product and Engineering leaders to anticipate future infrastructure needs and enable faster, more reliable software delivery.
- Build investment roadmaps, establish priorities, and communicate tradeoffs that connect infrastructure decisions to measurable business outcomes.
Engineering Leadership & Organizational Excellence
- Lead, develop, and empower an established organization of approximately 20 Cloud Infrastructure and Database Engineering professionals.
- Build a culture of technical excellence, ownership, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Partner with senior engineers and technical leaders to challenge assumptions, elevate architectural decisions, and solve complex engineering problems.
- Establish clear operating frameworks that give teams autonomy while ensuring predictable delivery, transparency, and measurable results.
Cloud Modernization & Developer Enablement
- Advance cloud-native architecture, Kubernetes, Infrastructure as Code, and automation across the environment.
- Expand self-service capabilities, reusable infrastructure patterns, and engineering standards that reduce friction for Product Development teams.
- Strengthen infrastructure governance, architectural consistency, and security across the cloud ecosystem.
- Identify opportunities to simplify complex environments, improve engineering productivity, and accelerate product innovation.
Reliability, Resilience & Operational Performance
- Champion SRE principles, including observability, SLIs/SLOs, incident management, and continuous reliability improvement.
- Provide visible technical and organizational leadership during critical production events.
- Establish repeatable processes for infrastructure planning, delivery, incident response, and operational improvement.
- Drive cloud financial accountability and optimize infrastructure investment without compromising customer experience or scalability.
What You'll Bring
We're looking for an accomplished engineering leader who can operate at both the strategic and technical levels—someone equally comfortable shaping a cloud roadmap with executives and challenging architectural decisions alongside senior engineers.
The ideal candidate brings:
- 12+ years of progressive experience across Cloud Infrastructure, Software Engineering, SRE, or related disciplines.
- Significant experience leading engineering organizations, including managers and senior technical contributors.
- A track record of defining and executing cloud infrastructure strategies that support customer-facing, enterprise SaaS products.
- Deep understanding of public cloud architecture, particularly Microsoft Azure, with AWS experience highly valued.
- Strong technical fluency across Kubernetes/AKS, distributed systems, networking, cloud-native architectures, and Infrastructure as Code, particularly Terraform.
- Experience leading infrastructure modernization, reliability improvements, automation initiatives, and cloud governance at scale.
- Demonstrated ability to build strategic roadmaps, align stakeholders, prioritize investments, and translate technology initiatives into business outcomes.
- Strong understanding of SRE, observability, resiliency, incident management, and operational excellence.
- The credibility to lead experienced engineers and the executive presence to influence senior technology leadership.
- A leadership approach that combines strategic vision with a willingness to remain close to the technology and accountable for execution.
- A bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
Why This Opportunity Stands Out
A seat at the strategy table. Help define how a global SaaS business invests in cloud infrastructure and evolves its technology foundation.
An established engineering organization. Lead approximately 20 talented engineers across Cloud Infrastructure and Database Engineering, with the opportunity to elevate how the organization operates and delivers value.
Real ownership and influence. Take meaningful accountability for strategy, architecture, engineering execution, and operational performance.
Infrastructure with a direct connection to the product. Your decisions will influence how software is developed, deployed, scaled, and experienced by customers around the world.
Complex, meaningful engineering challenges. Work across modern Azure infrastructure, Kubernetes, distributed systems, database technologies, security, and high-availability SaaS environments.
The opportunity to leave your mark. Build lasting engineering capabilities, strengthen technical leadership, and influence the organization's long-term cloud strategy.
Compensation & Rewards
The anticipated base salary for this position is $250,000–$280,000 annually , plus an annual performance bonus and equity participation.
The overall compensation package is designed to attract an experienced technology leader who can deliver meaningful impact across engineering strategy, organizational leadership, and business performance.
Build What's Next.
The best infrastructure leaders don't measure success solely in uptime, cloud spend, or deployment speed. They understand how technology enables products, empowers engineers, and creates competitive advantage.
If you're a strategic engineering leader who loves building exceptional teams, solving complex cloud challenges, and translating technology into meaningful business impact, we'd welcome the opportunity to connect.
