VP, Legal

For our client, we are seeking a VP, Legal to join the team of a leader in the Media space.

This leader is looking for a senior legal executive to serve as a trusted advisor to the CEO and broader executive team. The role will shape legal strategy across privacy, data protection, regulatory matters, and emerging AI-related product issues in a fast-moving consumer technology environment. This leader will also guide the legal function, strengthen operating processes, and partner closely with policy and cross-functional teams to help the business manage risk while supporting innovation.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $320,000 annually

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary legal advisor to the CEO and executive team on strategy and risk.
• Direct global privacy compliance for the company's products and practices.
• Lead the company's legal strategy in complex regulatory proceedings.
• Manage and develop the legal team, building a scalable legal operating model.
• Collaborate with the policy team on US and EU policy matters and provide legal counsel.
• Partner with cross-functional teams on legal implications of AI product features and data practices.
• Evolve legal operations infrastructure, including intake workflows and outside counsel management.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of legal experience, including 10+ years in-house at a consumer-facing technology company.
• 7+ years of legal leadership experience, including 2+ years as a high-level executive, such as VP or Deputy General Counsel.
• JD and active bar membership in at least one US jurisdiction.
• Deep expertise in privacy, data protection, technology platform regulation, or antitrust/competition law.
• Ability to advise executives on complex legal risk and manage significant litigation.
