Job Title: VTL Operator / CNC VTL Machine Operator

Department: Machine Shop / Production

Reports To: Machine Shop Supervisor / Production Manager

Job Summary

The Vertical Turning Lathe (VTL) Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining VTL machines (conventional or CNC) to fabricate large, heavy, and high-precision components according to engineering drawings and technical specifications.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

• Machine Setup & Operation:
• Set up, configure, and operate Vertical Turning Lathe (VTL) machines to carry out turning, facing, boring, grooving, and threading operations.
• Load and unload heavy castings, forgings, or raw materials safely using overhead cranes or hoists.
• Align workpieces, install fixtures/chucks, and secure holding parameters.
• Programming & Controls (For CNC VTL):
• Read, load, and verify CNC G-code and M-code programs (Fanuc, Siemens, or similar control systems).
• Set tool offsets, work offsets, and adjust cutting feeds and speeds based on material type (Cast Iron, Stainless Steel, Alloys).

Key Skills & Competencies

• Expertise in operating conventional or CNC Vertical Turning Lathes.
• Proficiency in reading complex engineering component drawings.
• Competency with Fanuc / Siemens controllers (for CNC operators).
• Expertise in precision measurement instruments and GD&T.
• Safe handling of overhead cranes, rigging equipment, and heavy components.

Qualifications & Educational Requirements

• Education: ITI (Turner / Machinist / Fitter) or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience: Minimum 2 to 5 years of hands-on experience on VTL machines in heavy manufacturing, pump/valve manufacturing, or precision component industries.

Pay: ₹40,000.00 - ₹48,000.00 per month
