[W2] AI(Claude Code) Platform & Developer Tools Engineer

About the Role

We are looking for a hands-on AI Platform & Developer Tools Engineer to own and modernize an internal AI-powered toolkit platform used by a small but growing business team.

The platform includes Claude-based AI agents, Python libraries, pricing engines, deployment pipelines, dashboards, knowledge bases, SharePoint, Smartsheet, and internal automation tools .

The current environment works, but it needs to become more scalable, secure, maintainable, cost-efficient, and accessible to non-engineering users.

This is a hands-on engineering role . You will write code, build integrations, establish GitHub/CI practices, improve AI agent workflows, optimize token usage, and build a reliable retrieval/knowledge platform.

What You Will Do

1. Own and Enhance the AI Toolkit Platform

• Maintain and extend shared Python libraries, dashboards, reports, and internal automation.
• Support integrations with SharePoint and Smartsheet .
• Maintain and enhance existing AI-powered tools, agents, and workflows.
• Troubleshoot production issues and continuously improve platform reliability.

2. Optimize Claude / AI Workflows

• Work extensively with Claude Code , including:
• Skills
• Sub-agents
• CLAUDE.md
• Hooks
• Permissions
• MCP connectors
• Analyze how AI workflows consume context and tokens.
• Move repetitive workflows away from large context-window dependencies toward callable tools and services.
• Evaluate approaches such as MCP servers, plugins, Agent SDK services, and internal web applications .
• Establish measurable improvements in AI execution time and cost.

3. Build a GitHub-Based Development Platform

• Lead the migration of an existing Python/AI toolkit library into GitHub .
• Establish repository structure, branching strategy, CI/CD, testing, and release processes.
• Create packaged releases that users can install easily on a fresh machine.
• Establish clear separation between source code and confidential customer/business data.
• Implement appropriate scanning and controls to prevent sensitive data or credentials from entering repositories.
• Design secure distribution mechanisms for users accessing SharePoint-based data.

4. Modernize the Knowledge Base / RAG Platform

• Help transform an existing Obsidian-based knowledge base into a reliable retrieval platform for the broader team.
• Build multi-user access and contribution capabilities.
• Implement appropriate access controls for restricted content.
• Develop grounded AI/RAG experiences that provide citations to source material.
• Ensure the system clearly indicates when information is unavailable rather than generating unsupported answers.
• Maintain source provenance, confidence levels, and metadata.

5. Documentation & Delivery

• Manage technical work through Jira and Confluence .
• Create architecture documents, technical documentation, runbooks, and deployment guides.
• Make solutions easy for non-engineering users to install, understand, and operate.
• Collaborate closely with business stakeholders to understand the actual business problem behind technical requests.

What We're Looking For

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong hands-on experience with Claude Code or comparable agentic AI development platforms.

• Strong Python development skills, preferably with an emphasis on maintainable solutions using the standard library where practical.
• Hands-on experience with GitHub , Git workflows, CI/CD, repository design, and release management.
• Experience building and deploying AI/agentic systems and RAG solutions .
• Strong understanding of AI context management, token usage, tool calling, and agent boundaries.
• Experience working with confidential or sensitive business/customer data.
• Experience designing secure separation between application code, data, credentials, and generated outputs.
• Strong understanding of APIs and system integrations.
• Experience troubleshooting and supporting production applications.
• Strong technical documentation and communication skills.
• Experience working with Jira and Confluence .

Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills

• Obsidian or similar markdown-based knowledge management systems.
• SharePoint / Microsoft 365 integrations.
• Smartsheet integrations.
• MCP server development and API connectivity.
• Cloud experience with AWS or GCP .
• Experience with enterprise knowledge management or RAG platforms.
• Experience with enterprise AI governance, data security, and access control.
• Experience working with non-technical business users.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a hands-on AI/Platform Engineer who enjoys working at the intersection of AI agents, Python, developer tooling, automation, data security, and business operations .

You should be comfortable moving between architecture discussions and writing code. More importantly, you should be able to understand the business problem behind a technical request and build a solution that delivers measurable value.

This is not a pure AI research role or a traditional software development position. It is an engineering role focused on making AI-powered business tools reliable, secure, scalable, and easy for a broader team to use.
