What they need

Wait Staff/ Tea Room Assistant

Full-Time | Day Shifts | Kensington, London

We’re a boutique tea room with a strong focus on afternoon tea service and a curated selection of loose-leaf tea blends. Our goal has always been to bring more charm, creativity, and warmth to the London afternoon tea scene — and we’re just getting started. We are looking to expand to other sites in London very soon, so further opportunities will be available for the right candidate.

As a small independent business, every member of our team plays an important role in creating the experience our customers know us for. We're looking for someone who takes pride in their work, enjoys being part of a close-knit team and shares our passion for quality, presentation and excellent service.

This is primarily a customer service role, however all members of our team are cross-trained across front-of-house roles and back-of-house roles. This is to give everyone the opportunity to develop a broader range of skills relative to a hospitality setting.

If you feel like this may suit you, below you'll find the duties of the job:

The Role

Full-time, day shifts, with one weekend shift required.

  • Greet and seat customers, ensuring their comfort and satisfaction
  • Present menus and explain our afternoon tea specials to customers
  • Take accurate food and beverage orders and relay them to the kitchen staff promptly
  • Serve food and drinks to customers in a timely and efficient manner
  • Answer questions and provide recommendations on menu items
  • Check on customers throughout their meal to ensure satisfaction and address any concerns
  • Clear tables and ensure proper tableware and condiments are available for new customers
  • Process customer payments accurately using POS systems
  • Assist with dish washing and drying cycles
  • Maintain a clean and organised work area and shop floor

What We’re Looking For

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong customer service skills with a friendly and positive attitude
  • Excellent teamwork and a calm, can-do attitude
  • Strong attention to detail, especially with customer engagement
  • Good time management and ability to stay organised in a fast-paced environment
  • A willingness to learn barista skills and grow within the business
  • Strong communication and a genuine interest in hospitality

Experience

Previous experience in waitering or afternoon tea service is a plus — but not essential. We value attitude, mentality and passion above all. If you’re enthusiastic, dependable, and excited about a career in hospitality, we’re happy to train the right person.

Hours

  • 35–40 hours per week
  • Full-time preferred, although part-time applications are welcome
  • Typical shifts are 10:00am–18:00pm
  • Usually four weekday shifts and one weekend shift each week

What We Offer

  • Paid breaks
  • Free staff meals during shifts
  • Staff discounts
  • Full training across kitchen, barista and front-of-house roles
  • A friendly, supportive, humanitarian focused and respectful working environment
  • We are a fast growing business, with opportunities for staff to grow within the business as we continue to develop

If you feel this role suits you, please don't hesitate to reach out to us. We look forward to hearing from you.
