Waiter

Job Purpose

To provide excellent food and beverage service to guests, maintain high standards of cleanliness and presentation, and ensure a positive dining experience while following company policies and service procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Greet and welcome guests in a friendly and professional manner.
• Present menus and explain food and beverage items to guests when required.
• Take accurate food and beverage orders and enter them correctly into the POS system.
• Communicate guest orders clearly to the kitchen and bar team.
• Serve food and beverages promptly and according to company service standards.
• Check the quality, presentation, and accuracy of orders before serving.
• Follow proper table-service procedures and maintain professional service etiquette.
• Check regularly with guests to ensure they are satisfied with their meals and service.
• Respond politely to guest requests, questions, and complaints and inform the Supervisor/Manager when necessary.
• Clear and clean tables promptly after guests finish their meals.
• Reset tables properly for the next guests.
• Maintain cleanliness of the dining area, service stations, tables, chairs, and equipment.
• Follow proper food safety, hygiene, and personal grooming standards.
• Handle plates, glasses, cutlery, and restaurant equipment carefully.
• Assist with opening and closing duties as assigned.
• Maintain sufficient stocks of cutlery, napkins, condiments, and other service items.
• Coordinate with kitchen, cashier, bar, and other departments for smooth operations.
• Follow all company policies, procedures, and instructions from supervisors and management.
• Report any damaged equipment, shortages, guest complaints, accidents, or operational issues immediately.
• Handle guest bills and payments according to company procedures, when assigned.
• Avoid unnecessary mobile phone use during working hours and remain attentive to guests and duties.
• Perform any other duties assigned by the Supervisor, Manager, or Head of Department.

Guest Service Standards

• Maintain a polite, friendly, and professional attitude at all times.
• Use appropriate communication and respectful language with guests and colleagues.
• Maintain good personal hygiene, grooming, and uniform standards.
• Never argue with guests; escalate complaints to the Supervisor/Manager.
• Ensure guests receive accurate, timely, and courteous service.

Skills & Requirements

• Previous waiter/F&B experience preferred.
• Good communication and customer-service skills.
• Basic knowledge of food and beverage service.
• Ability to work under pressure in a busy restaurant environment.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Basic English communication skills; additional languages are an advantage.
• Good personal hygiene and professional appearance.
• Willingness to work flexible shifts, weekends, and public holidays as required.
