Waiting Staff

Job Purpose

To deliver a high standard of food and beverage service to guests, ensuring a positive dining experience through excellent customer service, attention to detail, and efficient service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Waiting staff:

• Proactively enquire about guest allergies or dietary requirements, ensuring strict compliance with UK Food Information Regulations (including Natasha's Law) and communicating all dietary needs clearly to the kitchen team.
• Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of the Blackwoods menu, focusing on our local Scottish suppliers, seasonal specials, and wine/whisky pairings to confidently upsell and enhance the guest experience.
• Serve alcohol responsibly in strict accordance with the Licensing (Scotland) Act 2005, enforcing the 'Challenge 25' policy at all times.
• Clear tables efficiently and maintain a clean, luxurious dining environment within Blackwoods.

Guest Service

• Greet and seat guests in a friendly and professional manner
• Take food and drink orders accurately
• Serve food and beverages promptly and to a high standard
• Check guest satisfaction during service and respond to requests
• Provide recommendations on menu items where appropriate

Service Delivery

• Ensure tables are set up correctly before service
• Clear tables efficiently and maintain a clean dining area
• Process bills and handle payments accurately
• Maintain knowledge of menus, specials, and promotions

Hygiene & Food Safety

• Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene
• Follow food safety procedures in line with Food Safety Act 1990
• Handle food and beverages safely

Teamwork & Communication

• Work closely with kitchen and bar staff
• Communicate clearly during service
• Support colleagues to ensure smooth operation

Health, Safety & Compliance

• Follow all health and safety procedures
• Report hazards, accidents, or incidents
• Comply with Company policies and procedures

Standards of Performance

• Deliver excellent customer service consistently
• Maintain a professional appearance and attitude
• Work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• Demonstrate attention to detail
• Be reliable, punctual, and flexible
