Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week across four night shifts
Shift pattern: Approximately 10 hours per shift, ideally 11pm–9am, with flexibility around the exact rota
Pay: £13.50–£14.00 per hour, depending on experience
Start date: As soon as possible, subject to satisfactory pre-employment checks

About us

Charterhouse Clinic is a private residential rehabilitation service in Northamptonshire, supporting adults recovering from alcohol and drug addiction. Our team works together to provide a compassionate, structured environment where clients can focus on their recovery.

We are looking for a reliable, caring and attentive Waking Night Support Worker to help maintain a safe and supportive environment for our clients throughout the night.

About the role

You will provide practical and emotional support to clients overnight, respond to their needs and help ensure continuity of care between the day and night teams.

This is a waking night position, and you must remain awake and alert throughout your shift.

Key responsibilities

• Provide calm, respectful and non-judgemental support to clients during the night.
• Carry out agreed welfare checks and observations in line with individual care plans and clinic procedures.
• Recognise changes in clients’ wellbeing or behaviour and promptly report concerns to the appropriate clinical or senior colleague.
• Respond to distress, incidents and emergencies in accordance with your training and the clinic’s procedures.
• Maintain accurate, timely and confidential records, including shift notes, observations and incident reports.
• Participate in clear handovers with colleagues to support consistent care.
• Follow safeguarding procedures, maintain professional boundaries and respect clients’ dignity, privacy and confidentiality.
• Help maintain a calm, clean and secure environment, including routine overnight checks and preparation for the morning.

About you

Essential:

• A compassionate, patient and respectful approach to supporting people in recovery.
• Reliability and the ability to remain awake, attentive and responsive throughout night shifts.
• Good communication, teamwork and written record-keeping skills.
• The ability to remain calm under pressure, follow procedures and seek support when needed.
• An understanding of confidentiality, professional boundaries and safeguarding.
• Availability to work 40 hours per week across four night shifts.
• The ability to reliably commute to Northampton for the agreed night shifts.
• A satisfactory Enhanced DBS check and completion of the required pre-employment checks.

Desirable:

• Experience in residential care, mental health, addiction services or recovery support.
• Previous experience working waking night shifts.
• Relevant training or qualifications in health and social care, safeguarding or first aid.
