Bright Futures Homes is recruiting a Waking Night Support Worker to join our residential children's care team in Wisbech.

Our homes provide care and support to children and young people who need adults around them who are dependable, calm and consistent. During the night, you will be responsible for helping to maintain a safe and settled environment and being available when a young person needs support.

The role

This is a waking night position, so you will remain awake throughout your shift.

Your night will include:

• Monitoring the safety and security of the home
• Being available to young people who wake or need emotional support during the night
• Responding appropriately to any concerns or incidents
• Following individual support plans and risk assessments
• Completing required checks and maintaining accurate records
• Ensuring the home remains clean, safe and ready for the following day
• Providing a clear handover to the incoming day team
• Contacting the on-call manager when additional support or guidance is required

Although you will be working overnight, you remain an important part of the child's wider care team. You will need to understand the individual needs of the young people living in the home and provide consistent boundaries, reassurance and support.

About you

You don't need to be the loudest person in the room. For this role, we are looking for someone who is observant, dependable and able to remain calm when situations become challenging.

You should be:

• Caring and approachable
• Reliable and able to remain alert throughout the night
• Confident working on your own initiative
• Able to respond calmly to challenging situations
• Comfortable maintaining professional boundaries
• A good communicator with the ability to produce clear written records
• Willing to learn and undertake the training required for the role

Previous experience of residential childcare or a similar care environment would be beneficial.

Requirements

A full driving licence is required for this role.

The successful applicant will be subject to safer recruitment checks, including an Enhanced DBS check and employment references.

If you do not already hold the relevant Level 3 Residential Childcare qualification, you will need to be willing to work towards this within the required timeframe.
