Walk-in || Junior Engineer

Role & responsibilities

A Junior Engineer (JE) is responsible for assisting senior engineers in planning, executing, supervising, and maintaining engineering works. The specific duties depend on the department or field, such as Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or Electronics Engineering.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

1. Site Supervision

• Supervise day-to-day work at the site.
• Ensure work is carried out according to approved drawings and specifications.
• Monitor the progress and quality of work.

2. Technical Support

• Assist senior engineers in planning and executing projects.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documents.
• Identify technical problems and report them to senior engineers.

3. Quality Control

• Inspect materials and workmanship.
• Ensure compliance with applicable standards and specifications.
• Maintain quality inspection reports and test records.

4. Measurement and Estimation

• Take measurements of completed and ongoing work.
• Assist in preparing estimates, quantity calculations, and bills.
• Verify quantities of materials used at the site.

5. Documentation and Reporting

• Maintain daily progress reports, site registers, and measurement books as applicable.
• Prepare work completion reports.
• Report delays, defects, and technical issues to senior officers.

6. Safety Management

• Ensure workers follow safety procedures.
• Check the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Report unsafe conditions and help prevent workplace accidents.

7. Material and Resource Management

• Monitor the use of materials, tools, and equipment.
• Check material availability and avoid unnecessary wastage.
• Coordinate with contractors, suppliers, and site workers.

8. Maintenance and Troubleshooting

• Assist in the inspection, repair, and maintenance of equipment or infrastructure.
• Identify faults and help implement corrective measures.
• Maintain records of breakdowns, repairs, and preventive maintenance.

9. Coordination

• Coordinate with senior engineers, contractors, technicians, and other departments.
• Communicate work requirements and progress updates.
• Follow instructions issued by authorized officers.

10. Compliance and Discipline

• Follow departmental rules, engineering standards, and applicable regulations.
• Complete assigned tasks within the stipulated time.
• Maintain professional conduct and accountability.
