Why an apprenticeship?

An apprenticeship opens the door for you to become a tradesperson. “Tradies” get the best of both worlds learning the theory behind their trade while spending most of their time gaining hands-on experience in the field, rather than sitting in a classroom. Tradies are considered to be professionals with a high level of both practical and theoretical knowledge of their trade.

A dedicated ATC Work Smart Industry Consultant will support you throughout your apprenticeship. You will have access to your mentor whenever needed, and they will regularly visit you in the workplace.

During your apprenticeship you will:

The role:

The successful candidate will undertake a combination of on-the-job training and off the job training to achieve a CPC31320 Certificate III in Wall and Floor Tiling.

This apprenticeship involves working with an employer who provides an opportunity to learn all aspects of a trade. This is a structured program for a fixed period of time and while you learn on the job, you also attend off the job training at TAFE or with a Registered Training Organisation.

Tasks include, but are not limited to:

• Interpret building plans and specifications
• Measure and calculate materials
• Use basic tiling tools
• Power tools and materials
• Bathroom renovations
• Wall and floor tiling new builds and existing homes
• Apply work health and safety requirements

About you:

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Current C Class driver license and own reliable transport
• Positive attitude and strong work ethic
• Physically fit
• Willingness to learn and handle positive and negative feedback
• Good problem-solving skills and the ability to think logically when completing tasks
• Punctual and reliable
• Cert II in the building trade (not essential)
• Work experience in Tiling or the passion for the trade
• White Card or willing to obtain
