Responsibilities

• Safely operate tractor-trailers across over-the-road (OTR) routes, ensuring timely deliveries to retail stores.
• Manage the loading and unloading of freight, including logistics cargo handling and securing hazardous or dangerous goods in compliance with hazardous materials regulations.
• Navigate using GPS systems to optimize routes while adhering to DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations and FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) standards.
• Load and unload trucks efficiently, utilizing manual handling techniques when necessary, while maintaining safety protocols.
• Transport various types of freight such as refrigerated goods, flatbed loads, or tanker shipments, depending on the assignment.
• Comply with all safety regulations related to truck driving, including Hazmat certifications when applicable, and ensure vehicles meet DOT standards for safety and maintenance.
• Maintain detailed logs of driving hours, cargo documentation, and delivery records in accordance with FMCSA regulations.
• Communicate effectively with dispatchers and clients to coordinate delivery schedules and resolve any route or cargo issues promptly.

Skills

• Proven experience in commercial truck driving with a focus on delivery driving and route driving.
• Strong knowledge of truck loading and unloading procedures, including freight handling for various cargo types such as hazardous materials or temperature-sensitive goods.
• Proficiency in operating refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, and other specialized trucking equipment.
• Familiarity with GPS navigation systems for efficient route planning across OTR routes.
• Understanding of FMCSA regulations, DOT standards, hazardous materials regulations, and safety protocols for truck driving.
• Ability to handle manual transmission trucks confidently and perform manual handling tasks safely.
• Excellent driving skills with a clean driving record; experience with tractor-trailers preferred.
• Strong organizational skills for managing logs, cargo documentation, and compliance paperwork related to logistics cargo handling.
