JOB PROFILE: Warehouse Assistant

DEPARTMENT: Production & Dispatch
REPORTING TO: Warehouse Manager

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

Support the Warehouse Manager and Dispatch team by carrying out daily warehouse, stock‑handling, packing, and housekeeping tasks. Ensure accurate picking, packing, stock movement, and documentation to maintain smooth workflow, correct stock levels, and compliance with food safety and quality standards.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIESDaily Operations & Workflow Support

• Assist with daily workflow in Unit 3 (Dispatch) and Unit 4 (Production) as directed by the Warehouse Manager.
• Pick, pack, label, and prepare finished product according to correct format and SOPs.
• Ensure all items are packed accurately and checked before sign‑off.
• Support stock transfers between units, ensuring correct documentation and traceability.

Stock Handling & Accuracy

• Maintain correct stock placement and follow FIFO at all times.
• Keep shelves, bins, and stock areas neat, tidy, and organised.
• Assist with weekly stock level checks and report discrepancies immediately.
• Prepare stock for stock take and ensure correct stock is drawn when requested.
• Help verify stock on hand against DAR/CRM system and flag any mismatches.

Documentation & Administration

• Complete checklists, labels, and paperwork accurately and neatly.
• Ensure all documentation is submitted timeously to the Warehouse Manager.
• Maintain filing and paper management for dispatch and stock movement records.

Team & Communication Support

• Follow instructions from the Warehouse Manager and supervisors clearly and consistently.
• Communicate any issues, delays, or stock concerns immediately.
• Support training by learning all warehouse roles and being able to step into basic tasks when required.

Quality, Food Safety & Housekeeping

• Adhere strictly to Standard Operating Procedures.
• Report any food safety, health, or hygiene concerns immediately.
• Maintain cleanliness of all units throughout the day.
• Participate in Food Safety and Health & Safety practices as required.

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

• Matric.
• 1–2 years experience in FMCG warehousing/dispatch/manufacturing environment (advantageous).
• Basic computer literacy (MS Office / CRM beneficial).
• Experience with stock handling, packing, or warehouse operations.
• Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
