Warehouse Assistant Supervisor

About the Role:

The Warehouse Assistant Supervisor plays a critical role in supporting the efficient operation of warehouse activities within the warehousing industry. This position is responsible for assisting the Warehouse Supervisor in managing daily warehouse functions, ensuring that inventory is accurately received, stored, and dispatched in a timely manner. The role requires close coordination with warehouse staff to maintain safety standards, optimize workflow, and meet operational targets. The Assistant Supervisor will also contribute to training and mentoring warehouse personnel, fostering a productive and compliant work environment. Ultimately, this position ensures that warehouse operations run smoothly, supporting overall supply chain effectiveness and customer satisfaction. The assistant supervisor will shadow the warehouse supervisor and learn all responsibilities of that position as well as fostering a productive and compliant work environment. This will be a day shift position with evening and weekend work hours as necessary during peak seasons. Working on some holidays may also be required.

Minimum Qualifications:

• At least 5 years of experience working in a warehouse environment.
• Basic supervisory or team lead experience in a warehouse setting.
• Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) and inventory control procedures.
• Ability to lift and move heavy objects and operate warehouse equipment safely.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Associate degree or certification in logistics, supply chain management, or related field.
• Experience with warehousing industry standards and regulations.
• Proficiency in using computerized inventory system and shipping software.
• Forklift operator certification or experience operating material handling equipment.
• Strong on-the-floor supervisory skills.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in supervising daily warehouse operations including receiving, storing, and shipping of goods.
• Coordinate and monitor warehouse staff activities to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
• Support inventory management processes by conducting regular stock counts and maintaining accurate records.
• Help implement and enforce warehouse policies and procedures to optimize efficiency and safety.
• Collaborate with logistics and transportation teams to schedule shipments and deliveries.
• Train and mentor warehouse employees to improve performance and adherence to operational protocols.
• Identify and report any operational issues or equipment malfunctions to management promptly.
• Assist in preparing reports related to warehouse productivity, inventory levels, and safety compliance.
