Warehouse Associate / Backup Driver

Books4Cause processes thousands of donated books every week. Books are constantly coming into and moving through our warehouse, and we're looking for someone who can help keep everything moving.

This is a general warehouse position with a lot of variety. One part of the day you might be unloading a van full of donated books, another part organizing the warehouse, helping with shipping, cleaning up a work area, or loading materials for recycling.

We're looking for someone who likes physical work, stays busy without needing to be constantly directed, and is willing to jump in wherever help is needed.

What You'll Do

• Load and unload vans, trucks, pallets, boxes, and carts
• Unload and organize book donations as they arrive
• Move inventory throughout the warehouse
• Help keep the warehouse clean, organized, and safe
• Perform routine cleaning, including cleaning bathrooms, sweeping, mopping, taking out garbage, and general facility cleanup
• Assist with packing and shipping orders when needed
• Break down boxes and help prepare materials for recycling
• Help load vans for donation pickups
• Perform basic general maintenance and cleanup around the warehouse
• Serve as a backup driver for book donation pickups when needed
• Help with other warehouse tasks as they come up

• You're comfortable driving a cargo van when needed
• You work well independently and as part of a team

This Probably Isn't the Job For You If

• You want to sit at the same workstation doing the same task all day
• You don't like physical work or regularly moving boxes
• You need every part of your day planned out in advance
• You don't like jumping between different tasks when priorities change

Experience

Previous warehouse, shipping, delivery, maintenance, or similar experience is helpful but not required. We're more interested in finding someone dependable who works hard and takes initiative.

A valid driver's license and acceptable driving record are required because this position may occasionally serve as a backup driver.

Physical Requirements

• Able to regularly lift and move boxes of books
• Comfortable standing, walking, bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling throughout a shift
• Comfortable with physical warehouse work for a full shift
