Warehouse Associate - Fork Lift Operator

We are seeking a dependable, safety-conscious Warehouse Associate / Forklift Operator to join our team. In this role, you will handle the daily receiving, stowing, loading, and movement of heavy commercial interior building products – primarily drywall panels, steel studs, and bulk drywall accessories.

Safety is our top priority. The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience operating sit-down forklifts, handling heavy or oversized material, and maintaining a clean, efficient, and accident-free warehouse environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Forklift Operations: Safely operate heavy-duty sit-down forklifts to transport, stack, and move oversized materials (including 8' to 16' drywall sheets, metal framing bundles, and joint compound pallets).
• Loading & Unloading: Unload incoming freight trailers/flatbeds and accurately stage materials. Efficiently load flatbed delivery trucks and box trucks for daily jobsite deliveries, ensuring loads are properly secured, weight-balanced, and protected from transport damage.
• Material Putaway & Staging: Receive, inspect, and stow incoming shipments in assigned warehouse rack or floor storage locations.
• Inventory Control & Maintenance: Assist with regular inventory cycle counts, report discrepancies, and keep track of stock levels. Maintain clear aisle ways, organized bays, and accurate labeling.
• Warehouse Housekeeping & Safety: Adhere strictly to all OSHA and company safety standards, including personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements and daily forklift pre-operation inspection checks. Keep the warehouse and yard clean, organized, and free of hazards.
• General Duties: Assist walk-in contractor customers with order pickup, operate manual material handling equipment (pallet jacks, drywall carts), and perform other warehouse maintenance duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Forklift Experience: Minimum 1–2 years of experience operating sit-down forklifts (counterbalance). Experience handling long/oversized loads (such as drywall or lumber) is highly preferred.
• Industry Experience: Previous experience in building materials distribution, commercial construction supplies, lumberyards, or heavy industrial warehousing is a strong plus.
• Physical Demands: Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 lbs regularly and stand/walk for extended periods in varying warehouse temperatures.
• Safety Focus: Strong safety mindset with a clean track record of safe equipment operation and commitment to jobsite/warehouse protocols. Adhering to all safety policies, including wearing safety harness and other required equipment

Skills & Attributes:

• Strong attention to detail when verifying packing slips and staging customer orders.
• Punctual, reliable, and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Basic computer/handheld scanner literacy for inventory management is a plus.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Certifications: Active forklift operator certification is preferred (onsite recertification provided).
