Warehouse Associate - Forklift Operator / Material Handler

Warehouse Associate -- Forklift Operator / Material Handler

Brucha Corp | Hampton, VA (Phenix Commerce Center, 30 Aberdeen Road)

About Brucha Corp

Brucha Corp is the U.S. subsidiary of Brucha GmbH, an Austrian manufacturer of insulated metal panels (IMPs) used in commercial and industrial construction. Our Hampton facility receives shipping containers from Austria, unloads and organizes the product, and loads outbound flatbed trucks for delivery to job sites up and down the East Coast. We are a growing team where the work is physical, the product is valuable, and precision matters.

About the Role

You are the hands of the operation. Containers come in from the Port of Norfolk. You unload them, sort the product by customer order, store it correctly on the floor, and load it back out onto flatbed trucks for delivery. The product is large, heavy insulated metal panels used in commercial construction. Handling them correctly protects the product, protects you, and protects the customer's job site. This role requires a valid forklift certification, physical capability, and a consistent, detail-oriented approach to the work.

What You'll Do

• Operate a sit-down counterbalance forklift to receive and unload shipping containers at the dock
• Identify and sort inbound product by K-number (product identifier) and customer order; confirm against packing documentation
• Floor-stack product in designated storage locations according to facility layout and stacking height limits
• Stage outbound orders in the loading area and load flatbed trucks safely and in sequence; confirm loads against bills of lading
• Assist with container unloading using the appropriate equipment (training provided) and proper rigging practices
• Perform daily forklift pre-operation inspections and report any equipment issues to the Warehouse Manager
• Maintain a clean, organized warehouse floor: clear lanes, correct label placement, prompt cleanup of packaging materials
• Operate additional material handling equipment as needed (reach truck, pallet jack, vacuum panel lifter -- training provided)
• Follow all facility safety protocols, including strap-down procedures, load height limits, and PPE requirements

What You Bring

• Valid forklift certification (sit-down counterbalance); recent, active operation experience required
• Ability to perform sustained physical labor: lifting, carrying, standing, and operating equipment across a full shift in a warehouse environment
• Attention to detail in matching product to paperwork -- the wrong bundle on the wrong truck is a significant problem
• Reliable attendance and punctuality; this is a small team where gaps are felt immediately
• Ability to work safely around flatbed trucks, container chassis, and heavy equipment in the yard

Preferred

• Experience handling large-format or bulk construction materials (panels, roofing, wallboard, steel, lumber)
• Familiarity with flatbed loading and securement (strapping, blocking, edge protection)
• Reach truck certification
• Prior work in a distribution, transload, or drayage-adjacent environment

Compensation & Benefits

• Hourly - $18 to $22/hour + performance bonus
• 401k + health insurance
