The Opportunity

Protea Recruitment is working with an established food manufacturing business in West Cork to recruit a Warehouse Controller for its newly built warehouse facility.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced warehouse professional to take ownership of daily operations across a frozen cold store (-18°C) and an ambient packaging warehouse.

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring stock accuracy, efficient material movements and the smooth running of warehouse operations, while maintaining high standards of food safety, quality and health & safety.

Key Responsibilities

• Take responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the frozen cold store and ambient packaging warehouse.
• Oversee the receipt, checking, storage and movement of raw materials, packaging and finished goods.
• Maintain accurate stock records using the company's inventory management system.
• Carry out regular stock counts, investigate discrepancies and ensure stock accuracy.
• Ensure effective stock rotation using FIFO/FEFO principles.
• Coordinate the preparation and movement of materials to production and finished goods for dispatch.
• Monitor cold store temperatures and ensure products are maintained under appropriate storage conditions.
• Maintain high standards of warehouse housekeeping, cleanliness and organisation.
• Ensure compliance with HACCP, food safety, hygiene and health & safety standards.
• Safely operate forklifts and associated warehouse equipment.
• Work closely with Production, Purchasing, Quality and Logistics teams to support operational requirements.
• Support internal and external audits, maintaining accurate warehouse records and documentation.
• Identify opportunities to improve warehouse processes, efficiency and stock control.

What We're Looking For

Essential:

• Previous experience in warehouse operations, stock control or inventory management.
• A valid forklift licence.
• Strong understanding of stock management, stock rotation and inventory accuracy.
• Confident IT skills, including experience using warehouse or stock management systems.
• Ability to work independently, prioritise tasks and take ownership of daily operations.
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
• A strong commitment to workplace safety and operational standards.

Desirable:

• Experience within food manufacturing, chilled/frozen food distribution or FMCG.
• Previous experience working in cold store environments.
• Knowledge of HACCP and food safety standards.
• Experience supporting warehouse audits and compliance procedures.
• Experience helping to establish or improve warehouse systems and processes.
