Warehouse Coordinator - Job Description About the Role

We are seeking a reliable and motivated Warehouse Operations Coordinator to support the safe and efficient movement of freight through a busy Sydney depot. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for handling incoming and outgoing cargo, collecting freight, packing containers, preparing shipping documentation and completing airport lodgements.
This hands-on role requires strong attention to detail, good organisational skills and a commitment to workplace safety. You will work closely with the warehouse team and overseas Operations team to ensure freight is handled correctly, accurately recorded and processed within required timeframes.
Ongoing training and development will be provided, with opportunities to obtain additional qualifications and expand your skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Warehouse Operations: Maintain a clean, organised and safe warehouse, ensuring cargo, equipment and walkways are stored and maintained appropriately.
  • Freight Collection: Collect freight as required, check quantities, weights, dimensions and condition, obtain signed paperwork and report any discrepancies.
  • Cargo Receivals: Check incoming freight against documentation, label and record cargo, update tracking systems and report any damaged, missing or excess items.
  • Container Packing: Safely pack FAK (mixed freight) and FCL (full container load) shipments, ensuring cargo is secured correctly, loading limits are met and container records are maintained.
  • Freight Documentation: Prepare and check sea and air freight paperwork, including bills of lading, air waybills, manifests and cartage notes.
  • Airport Lodgements: Complete airport lodgements for consolidated freight and TACT rate shipments departing Sydney as required.
  • Team Coordination: Communicate with the overseas Operations team regarding freight movements, collections, cargo receivals and lodgements to ensure jobs are completed on time.
  • Vehicle Responsibilities: Drive company vehicles when required, ensuring they are operated safely, kept clean and maintained in a roadworthy condition.
  • Workplace Safety: Follow WHS requirements, company procedures and safe work practices, identifying and reporting hazards, incidents and operational issues promptly.
  • Training and Development: Complete on-the-job training and obtain Dangerous Goods (DG) qualifications and a forklift licence when approved by management.
  • General Duties: Assist with additional warehouse and operational tasks, provide support to team members and undertake other reasonable duties as directed by the Operations Manager or Supervisor.

Skills and Experience

  • Previous experience in warehouse operations, freight handling or logistics is advantageous.
  • Strong attention to detail when checking cargo and completing documentation.
  • Good organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to coordinate with internal and overseas teams.
  • A strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
  • Ability to undertake hands-on duties in a busy warehouse environment.
  • A current driver's licence and the ability to drive company vehicles as required.
  • A forklift licence and Dangerous Goods qualifications are advantageous, with training opportunities available subject to management approval.

What We Offer

  • A hands-on role within a busy freight and logistics operation.
  • On-the-job training and opportunities to develop additional skills.
  • Support to obtain relevant industry qualifications, subject to management approval.
  • The opportunity to contribute to a collaborative warehouse and operations team.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-conscious and detail-oriented, with a proactive approach to warehouse operations. They will take pride in handling freight accurately, maintaining organised work areas and ensuring shipments are processed efficiently while working collaboratively with the wider team.
