What they need

At Gist, we're proud to be part of the M&S Group, the logistics engine behind M&S Food. From our distribution centres to our transport operations and support functions, we connect people, technology and expertise to ensure the right products reach the right stores at the right time. As we continue to invest in our people, technology and network, there's never been a more exciting time to join Gist and help shape the future of food logistics. We're looking for an experienced Warehouse Coordinator to join our Chesterfield operation on a permanent 4 on 4 off night shift (7pm-7am). This is much more than a coordination role. You'll take responsibility for allocating work, maintaining operational performance and ensuring safety, quality and productivity standards are achieved on shift.

Working alongside Team Managers and operational colleagues, you'll be a visible presence on the warehouse floor, making decisions, supporting colleagues and keeping the operation running smoothly throughout the night.

If you've previously worked in a warehouse supervisory, team leader or coordinator role and enjoy leading people in a fast-paced environment, we'd love to hear from you.

What's in it for you? At Gist, we know our people are our greatest asset. That's why we offer a fantastic range of benefits, including:

  • Salary up to £30,309 plus £3,500 night shift premium
  • Permanent 4 on 4 off shift pattern
  • Working hours: 7pm-7am
  • 20% M&S discount on most products, including food, clothing, furniture and homeware
  • Annual leave plus bank holidays, increasing with service
  • Healthcare cash plan
  • Pension scheme and life assurance (up to four times salary)
  • Retail, restaurant and leisure discounts
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • Structured training and development
  • Cycle to Work scheme
  • Supportive team environment with genuine career progression opportunities

What You'll Be Doing As a Warehouse Coordinator, you'll play a key role in the day-to-day leadership of the warehouse operation.

You'll Be Responsible For

  • Leading and coordinating warehouse activities across inbound, picking and dispatch operations.
  • Allocating work and managing priorities to ensure operational targets are achieved.
  • Providing day-to-day guidance, coaching and support to warehouse colleagues.
  • Monitoring productivity, quality and safety standards throughout your shift.
  • Carrying out regular floor walks, identifying issues and resolving operational challenges.
  • Supporting performance conversations and encouraging high standards across the team.
  • Ensuring inbound deliveries are checked accurately and warehouse systems remain up to date.
  • Delivering clear and comprehensive shift handovers.
  • Promoting a positive safety culture and ensuring compliance with company procedures.

What We're Looking For We're looking for someone who enjoys leading people and thrives in a busy operational environment.

You'll Ideally Have

  • Previous experience in a Warehouse Coordinator, Team Leader, Supervisor or similar operational leadership role.
  • Experience allocating work and coordinating teams within a warehouse environment.
  • Confidence making decisions in a fast-paced operation.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to motivate and influence others.
  • A proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement.
  • Good IT skills and confidence using warehouse systems.
  • A strong understanding of warehouse health and safety and operational compliance.
  • The flexibility to work permanent night shifts.
