Overview

ML Solutions is seeking an experienced, dependable, and highly detail-oriented Second Shift Warehouse / Driver Associate to join our growing logistics team.

This is primarily a warehouse and dock operations position. The majority of the workday will involve receiving, organizing, verifying, staging, loading, and preparing freight for our operations.

This role requires someone who can do more than simply move freight from one place to another. We need an individual who thinks ahead, follows established processes carefully, catches discrepancies, solves problems, and takes ownership of making sure the operation is set up correctly.

The right candidate will have a strong work ethic, exceptional attention to detail, sound judgment, and genuine pride in the quality of their work. Second shift requires someone who can work effectively and independently while consistently following established processes and knowing when an issue needs to be escalated.

The position will also require regularly moving 26ft box trucks in and out of dock positions and around the property. Occasional pickup, delivery, or route coverage may be required based on operational needs, but route driving is not the primary day-to-day function of this position.

Candidates must have at least 3 years of 26ft box truck driving experience, a clean driving record, and previous forklift experience.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Receive, unload, stage, organize, and prepare freight for daily operations.
  • Load and unload 26ft box trucks safely and efficiently.
  • Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material-handling equipment.
  • Carefully verify freight, labels, addresses, piece counts, paperwork, and shipment information.
  • Ensure freight is staged and organized correctly for the next stage of the operation.
  • Follow established loading, unloading, freight-handling, and verification procedures.
  • Identify discrepancies, damaged freight, incorrect information, or other potential problems before they result in service failures.
  • Maintain accurate freight paperwork and required documentation.
  • Move 26ft box trucks safely between parking areas and dock positions.
  • Keep dock areas, warehouse space, equipment, and work areas clean and organized.
  • Communicate clearly with dispatch, drivers, and other team members regarding freight discrepancies and operational concerns.
  • Assist with preparing the operation for the following shift or business day.
  • Complete assigned responsibilities fully and accurately before considering the job finished.
  • Occasionally perform pickup, delivery, or route-driving duties when operational needs require additional coverage.

Required Experience & Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of experience operating a 26ft box truck.
  • Previous forklift operating experience is required.
  • Valid driver's license appropriate for operating a 26ft box truck.
  • Clean driving record.
  • Previous experience loading, unloading, staging, and handling freight.
  • Ability to safely operate pallet jacks and other material-handling equipment.
  • Ability to perform physical warehouse work and routinely handle freight.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to recognize discrepancies.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and sound judgment.
  • Ability to follow detailed processes and procedures consistently.
  • Strong attendance, dependability, and work ethic.
  • Ability to stay organized while managing multiple priorities.
  • Professional communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently without sacrificing accuracy or accountability.
  • Willingness to assist in other operational areas when needed.

Employment Stability & Work History Requirements

We are seeking candidates who demonstrate a consistent, stable employment history and a commitment to long-term employment.

This position requires significant responsibility, independent judgment, and operational accountability. We are looking for an individual who has demonstrated reliability and professional commitment through sustained employment.

Employment History Expectations:

  • A minimum of three (3) years of continuous employment with your current or most recent employer is strongly preferred.
  • Candidates should demonstrate a consistent work history with limited unexplained employment gaps or frequent job changes.
  • Applicants with a pattern of short-term employment across multiple employers may not be considered for this position.
  • Employment history, length of service, and reasons for leaving previous positions will be evaluated during the screening process.
  • Exceptions may be considered for circumstances such as company closures, layoffs, relocations, or other reasonable career transitions.

We are hiring for a long-term position and will prioritize candidates who have demonstrated employment stability, dependability, and commitment to their previous employers.

Preferred Experience

  • Previous logistics, LTL, freight, cartage, or warehouse experience.
  • Experience working on a freight dock.
  • Experience loading and unloading box trucks.
  • Experience preparing freight for delivery routes.
  • Familiarity with freight documentation, PRO numbers, shipment verification, and delivery paperwork.
  • Previous local pickup and delivery experience.

What We're Looking For

Attention to detail is one of the most important requirements of this position.

Freight operations depend on each shipment being handled correctly. A missed label, incorrect piece count, improperly staged shipment, overlooked instruction, or incomplete piece of paperwork can create problems for drivers, customers, and the entire operation.

We are looking for someone who takes pride in doing things correctly, completely, and consistently.

The strongest candidate will naturally double-check their work, notice when something does not look right, and take action instead of simply assuming someone else will catch the problem.

This position is a strong fit for someone who:

  • Has a strong work ethic and takes personal responsibility for their work.
  • Pays close attention to details others may overlook.
  • Follows established processes even when working independently.
  • Thinks ahead and considers what needs to happen next.
  • Takes pride in an organized and properly prepared warehouse and dock.
  • Can troubleshoot routine operational problems.
  • Does not take shortcuts simply because they are faster.
  • Understands when to solve a problem independently and when to involve a supervisor.
  • Communicates problems rather than allowing them to carry over to the next shift.
  • Understands that the quality of their work directly affects the drivers and employees who follow them.
  • Is willing to step in wherever needed to help the operation succeed.

This is not primarily a driving position. Candidates should expect the majority of their time to be spent working in the warehouse and on the dock. Box-truck operation will primarily involve positioning vehicles around the facility, with occasional driving assignments based on business needs.
