What they need

The Warehouse Porter keeps the Warehouse facility clean, safe, and presentable, inside and out. This hands-on role is responsible for daily cleaning and sanitation of the warehouse interior and exterior grounds, operating floor scrubbers and other cleaning equipment, managing trash and cardboard compaction, maintaining restrooms, and performing light maintenance such as painting and carpet cleaning. The Janitorial Associate plays a key part in supporting safety, GMP housekeeping standards, and a professional work environment across the plant.

Key Responsibilities

Interior Cleaning & Floor Care

  • Operate ride-on and walk-behind floor scrubbers to clean warehouse, production, and aisle floors on a scheduled basis.
  • Sweep, mop, and spot-clean floors throughout the warehouse, offices, breakrooms, and common areas.
  • Clean carpeted areas including vacuuming and periodic carpet shampooing/extraction in offices and entryways.
  • Maintain cleanliness of high-traffic and shared spaces such as hallways, entrances, breakrooms, and stairwells.

Waste, Trash & Cardboard Management

  • Collect and dispose of garbage from throughout the facility, replacing liners and keeping receptacles sanitary.
  • Break down boxes and cardboard and operate the cardboard compactor/baler safely and in line with procedures.
  • Operate trash and recycling compactors and keep waste/recycling staging areas clean, organized, and free of overflow.
  • Separate recyclables and manage waste streams according to site and environmental guidelines.

Restroom & Sanitation

  • Clean, sanitize, and restock restrooms on a scheduled basis throughout the day — toilets, sinks, floors, mirrors, and dispensers.
  • Maintain cleaning-supply and paper-product inventory for restrooms and common areas, flagging reorder needs.
  • Respond to spills and sanitation issues promptly to keep the facility safe and compliant.

Exterior & Grounds Upkeep

  • Maintain the exterior of the building and grounds including sweeping walkways, dock areas, and entrances, and policing the lot for litter and debris.
  • Keep dock, trash, and loading areas clean and clear of debris, pallets, and clutter.
  • Support seasonal exterior upkeep such as clearing walkways and entrances as needed for safe access.

Light Maintenance

  • Perform light painting of walls, curbs, floor lines, and touch-ups to keep the facility presentable.
  • Handle minor general upkeep tasks such as replacing light bulbs, minor repairs, and reporting larger maintenance needs to the appropriate team.
  • Assist with setup, moves, and cleanup for facility needs as directed.

Safety & Compliance

  • Follow all safety, PPE, and chemical-handling procedures including proper use and labeling of cleaning chemicals (per SDS).
  • Maintain GMP and housekeeping standards throughout the facility.
  • Work safely around powered industrial trucks and production equipment in an active warehouse environment.
  • Place wet-floor signage and barriers to protect employees and visitors during cleaning.

Qualifications

Required

  • Prior janitorial, custodial, porter, or general facility-cleaning experience preferred.
  • Ability to operate, or learn to operate, floor scrubbers, compactors/balers, and standard cleaning equipment.
  • Able to follow cleaning schedules and complete tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Reliable, detail-oriented, and dependable with good time management.
  • Flexibility to adjust hours to work around the production and shipping schedule.
  • Ability to safely handle cleaning chemicals following label and SDS instructions.

Preferred

  • Experience operating ride-on floor scrubbers or industrial cleaning equipment.
  • Basic handyman/light-maintenance skills (painting, minor repairs).
  • Forklift certification or willingness to become certified.
  • Experience in a warehouse, manufacturing, or food/chemical-handling facility.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

  • Plant and warehouse environment with exposure to dust, temperature variation, noise, cleaning chemicals, and bulk-chemical materials; PPE required.
  • Extended standing, walking, bending, kneeling, reaching, and pushing/pulling throughout the shift.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lb occasionally and to work around powered industrial trucks.
  • Work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Flexibility to support early starts, extended shifts, and occasional weekends during peak demand.
