What they need

Job Title: Warehouse Lead
Reports to: Operations Manager
Role Type: Full Time, in person
Location: Westgate, West Auckland

Land & Sea is New Zealand’s fastest-growing outdoor retail and e-commerce business, redefining the way consumers experience the outdoors & bringing a new level of energy to the outdoor industry. Due to exceptional recent growth, we are entering an exciting new phase of expansion within both our physical & digital platforms. Our business thrives on innovation, modern business practice & the continuous quest for a better way to serve our customers.

We are seeking a hands-on, experienced Warehouse Lead to lead the day-to-day floor operations of our warehouse, supporting the inbound, stock management, and fulfilment functions that power our growing multi-brand e-commerce and retail business, stocking over 200 brands.

This role sits on the warehouse floor, owning the daily rhythm of inbound receipting, stock accuracy, picking, and packing, as well as our warehouse systems, standards, and processes. You will work closely with our Dispatch Leader and Operations Manager, supporting and mentoring our Dispatch Leader to ensure orders are fulfilled on time and our warehouse runs safely and efficiently as we scale across the 200+ brands we stock.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, this role offers strong exposure to how a rapidly scaling multi-brand outdoor retailer runs its warehouse and fulfilment operations, with real opportunity to shape process, standards, and team culture as the business grows. If you’re a practical, people-focused leader who thrives on the warehouse floor and wants to help build a best-in-class fulfilment operation, then we want to hear from you!

Key Responsibilities

Inbound & Stock Management

  • Oversee the receipt, checking, and put-away of inbound stock across the 200+ brands we stock, ensuring accuracy against purchase orders and supplier documentation
  • Maintain high levels of inventory accuracy across the warehouse, supporting regular cycle counts and stocktakes
  • Manage stock locations, bin allocations, and warehouse layout to support efficient picking and storage as SKU count grows
  • Identify and resolve stock discrepancies, damages, and quality issues, working with the buying team to resolve root causes
  • Support space planning and storage optimisation across our 200+ brands and product categories

Pick, Pack & Dispatch

  • Oversee the day-to-day pick and pack of online and wholesale orders, ensuring daily cut-off times and SLAs are consistently met
  • Support and mentor our Dispatch Leader, working closely together to monitor dispatch quality and minimise errors, damages, and re-ships
  • Own the transfer process for stock moving from the warehouse to our multi-door retail sites across Auckland, ensuring accurate, timely replenishment between the warehouse and stores
  • Coordinate with couriers and freight partners to ensure timely collection and resolve delivery issues as they arise
  • Oversee the returns process, ensuring returned stock is processed, inspected, and reintegrated into inventory quickly and accurately
  • Support peak trade periods (sales, promotions, seasonal peaks) with rostering, planning, and hands-on floor leadership

Team Leadership & Day-to-Day Supervision

  • Supervise, roster, and coach a team of warehouse staff across receiving, picking, and packing functions
  • Support and mentor our Dispatch Leader in the development and performance management of the dispatch team, rather than leading dispatch directly
  • Set clear daily priorities and workloads, ensuring the team is resourced appropriately to meet volume and deadlines
  • Monitor individual and team performance against productivity, accuracy, and safety standards, providing regular feedback and coaching
  • Support the onboarding and training of new warehouse team members, ensuring consistent process knowledge across the floor
  • Act as the first point of escalation for day-to-day operational issues, resolving where possible and escalating to the Operations Manager where needed Warehouse

Standards & Continuous Improvement

  • Own warehouse systems, standards, and processes across the site, ensuring WMS, ERP, and other digital systems are used accurately and consistently to support reliable inventory and dispatch reporting
  • Champion a strong health and safety culture, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations and completing regular facility and equipment checks
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and efficient warehouse environment, applying 5S or similar principles to daily operations
  • Identify and implement improvements to warehouse layout, process, and equipment to support efficiency and scalability
  • Prepare and contribute to daily and weekly reporting on inbound, stock accuracy, and dispatch performance for the Operations Manager

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in a warehouse supervisor, team leader, or similar hands-on logistics role, ideally within e-commerce or multi-brand retail
  • Strong understanding of inbound receipting, inventory control, and pick/pack/dispatch processes
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, with the ability to roster, coach, and manage the performance of a warehouse team
  • Comfortable working with WMS, ERP, or similar warehouse and inventory systems
  • Strong understanding of health and safety requirements within a warehouse environment
  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Hands-on, practical approach with a willingness to be actively on the floor supporting the team
  • Strong communication skills, able to work effectively with warehouse staff, couriers, and other internal teams
  • Process-driven mindset with a focus on accuracy, continuous improvement, and scalability
  • A current forklift licence, or willingness to obtain one

Bonus Skills

  • Experience working across multiple brands, product categories, or SKU ranges
  • Experience scaling warehouse operations through periods of rapid growth
  • Exposure to Lean, 5S, or other continuous improvement methodologies
  • Experience with carrier and freight management, including resolving delivery issues
  • Background in outdoor, sporting goods, or specialty retail
  • Authentic passion for outdoor activities and lifestyle

What does success look like in this role?

  • Inbound stock that is received, checked, and put away accurately and efficiently
  • High inventory accuracy that is trusted by purchasing, retail, and e-commerce teams
  • Outbound orders that are picked, packed, and dispatched on time, accurately, and to a high standard
  • A well-led, engaged warehouse team with clear daily priorities and consistent standards
  • A safe, organised, and efficient warehouse environment
  • Smooth, well-run peak trade periods with minimal disruption to customers
  • A warehouse operation that scales smoothly as Land & Sea continues to grow across brands and channels
