What they need
Who we are
Clayton & Crume is a leather goods and lifestyle brand based in Louisville, KY. Founded in a college dorm room in 2012, our company has been built upon the values of hard work, quality goods, and honest treatment of customers. We pride ourselves in our team-fueled mission to become a nationwide brand known for its quality goods at scale.
Where you’ll fit in
As the Warehouse Manager, you own the physical warehouse: making sure the space works, material moves through it as designed, every item has a documented home, and that the environment is safe and orderly. You own the warehouse management system that digitally matches the physical space, and you give direction to the team that supports you.
What you’ll be responsible for
Receiving and put-away
- Unload and stage all inbound freight when it arrives leaving a clear dock at the end of every shift
- Receive the contents in the system, and deliver all paperwork necessary for verification, flagging any issues immediately
- Put-away all materials and products to assigned homes within 3 business days of receipt.
- Keep the dock and receiving areas clear and workable at all times.
The warehouse management system
- Own the WMS: every material and product has one documented home, and the physical world matches what the system says.
- Build, label, and maintain locations; create and retire locations as the business and space changes.
- Own storage capacity: know what space is available, forecast what upcoming purchases will require, and flag capacity issues as they are identified.
- Organize and optimize the warehouse layout for efficient picking, put-away, and FIFO practices.
- Train every warehouse user on the location system and hold them to it. Flag delinquency as you see it.
Warehouse condition and safety
- Hold the space to a high standard every day: aisles and walkways clear, no trash or debris on the floor, no broken pallets or unassigned product/material build-up.
- Own warehouse safety: rack and storage safety standards, equipment checks, PPE compliance, and reporting near-misses.
- Become and/or remain a certified forklift trainer; certify and recertify every forklift operator in the building.
- Own warehouse equipment: daily checks, maintenance requests, and safe operation.
Product allocation and distribution
- Own retail replenishment and show packing: accurate, complete, and shipped on schedule across all locations.
- Plan replenishment and show weeks in advance, incorporating them into weekly and daily workflow
Leadership and project ownership
- Supervise, train, and develop the warehouse team as needed against defined standards.
- Maintain the open warehouse projects list, reviewing weekly that every item has an owner and a due date.
- Drive warehouse projects to completion, get the buy-in and vision needed to own warehouse projects, asking for help or pushing for resolution
How your work will be measured
- DIgital PO receipt captured same day
- Physical receipt and putaway within 3 business days
- Location accuracy of 98% or better
- Allocation completed on time and accurate
- Weekly warehouse condition walk and safety compliance meeting standards every time
- Zero open warehouse projects without owners and past due
What you’ll bring to the table
- Ownership and follow-through: you notice what is unfinished or out of place and take it to closure with diligence
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the discipline to hold a daily standard when nobody is watching.
- Attention to detail and practical problem-solving.
- The ability to lead by example: raising concerns directly and constructively to the people who can act on them.
- Comfort with inventory management systems and basic reporting tools.
- Proficiency in office productivity software (G-Suite or similar).
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting and moving materials up to 50 pounds.
- Forklift certification, or the aptitude and willingness to become a certified trainer.
